Jul 28, 2013 - Last days in Boyup Brook.

Thank you to all of you who have offered your condolences for the loss of my Dad. We believe we have given him a nice send off. We didn't want to upset him, but we weren't too sure we succeeded when the hail and rain came down so heavy just prior to 12 noon on Friday. But typical Dad, it stopped just as the celebration commenced and that was so he could listen in to what we had to say. And it did not rain all the way back to Boyup Brook, so he must have been ok with what we did. Dave did an awesome job as our Celebrant. He was even offered...

Jul 5, 2013 - Update

Both Steph and I enjoyed our week back in Perth last week. The caravan is all fixed and now OK. We want to thank those who made them self available for us to catch up with you, sorry to those that we did not have the time to catch up with. It has been a hard week for Steph, and when we came back to Boyup Brook late yesterday we called in to see her Dad and he is getting very weak and not looking that well. He is now spending most of his time in bed as it is very cold here.

Jun 28, 2013 - Another Boyup Brook update

Since our last update we have been reasonably busy helping Steph's Dad and cleaning up his little unit. Thanks to Ian & Sam who dropped down last weekend and bought a double bed down. Steph needed a break so the other day we went for a drive around and ended up having a look at Fontys Pool and a number of other small towns around the area, we toured through a lot of the bush tracks getting to places so that was good fun !! But as it seems to always happen, we got a phone call and needed to get back to Bob's unit as he was getting dropped...

Jun 18, 2013 - Boyup Brook update

Well last weekend it was great to have a visit from our friends from Bunbury Bob & Julie, they know Steph's dad and wanted to come over to catch up with him. It was a great break for us as well to have someone else over here for a while. We had a good catch up with Steph's Dad on Saturday, then we went to the Bowling Club for tea, then back to the caravan park and lite up a fire in an old bin, sat around and had a FEW beers !!! Bob and Julie stayed in an old VERYYYYYYYYYYY COLDDDDDDDDDDD caravan in the park for the night. Then we went and...

Jun 3, 2013 - Resting (!!!!) in Boyup Brook

Just letting you all know that we are still in Boyup Brook. Steph's dad is battling along and we are trying to keep him as comfy as we can. It has been extremely cold down here so we are cutting his wood and making sure he has enough to keep him going over night. (I think i'm getting fit with all this wood cutting !!!) He is having his chemo but becoming very forgetful. He is now being taken up to the Hospital twice a week by the Palliative Care staff and he is enjoying that. Unfortunately we had to shift caravan bays over the long weekend...

Apr 30, 2013 - Made it safe to Boyup Brook

Well today we traveled from our overnight stop towards esperance, then turned right and headed to Boyup Brook, we arrived here at 5pm all safe and sound. Have started setting up the caravan in the park, spoken to the caretaker about a reduced cost if we are going to be here for a while. At the moment our plans are to stay here until Bob has his first chemo treatment tomorrow and we will see how he copes with it. We will probably then come up to Perth on Thursday or Friday to pick up Steph's car, she will then come back down early next week...
