Area around Pemberton is known as 'Tall Tree country' because it consists almost exclusively of old-growth Karri forests. Of course, where you get forests, you get sawmills and timber industry so much of what once existed has been logged. However, that which remains is now national park and plantation forestry encouraged. The size of these trees has to be seen to be appreciated, as anybody who has driven past the giant Redwoods in California would tell you. Simon -off to Oz!

Jul 10, 2005 - NorthCliffe - Lukes Birthday Weekender July 10th

This was by far the best weekend spent in SW OZ to date with 15 of us going to Northcliffe for an extended piss up for Lukes Bday! The Sunday before (i can't believe we left this out of the last entry) all of the lads got drunk and had their heads shaved in wierd and wonderful ways thanks to pool legend Eoin. Jun 5, 2005 - Augusta / Cape Leeuwin

Hiya! On the Sunday we started the day by heading down to Augusta, which is the most South-Westerly town in Australia (a la Penzance stylee). After we had arrived and checked out the river opening (very beautiful - see pics soon!), we headed back up to the town, which consisted of a petrol station, a fish shop and a cafe. The cafe looked good, although we witnessed someone get fired on our behalf, which was pretty cool. Apr 1, 2005 - Margaret River

We arrived to a very busy Margaret River, world surf championships were taking place. We took a wine tour for a day, unfortunately (fortunately at the time) can't remember too much about it! As we were at Margaret River we decided to Kayak down it and realised that we had muscles we weren't aware of given the aches the following day. The stay was rounded off with a music festival, which was great in particular Gomez.
