The following day I’d arranged a tour to the Yarra Valley Wine region – jumping in a small group mini-bus tour with a very nice Australian family and an American family fresh off one of the cruise boats that had stopped in for the day in Mebourne. The Yarra Valley itself was absolutely gorgeous – very green and serene and the trip out there was worth it just to have a look at the scenery – however, we had a job to do – 4 wineries to taste – and it was time to get started! At 4.15 am we were collected from the hotel and headed about an hour out of the city to Ferguson's Winery. We had a quick coffee, badly needed, and headed to the launch site of the balloon a few minutes down the road. Three balloons were being set-up and ours was first. It was really impressive seeing the balloons being inflated by, basically, massive flame throwers! 16 of us got into the balloon basket and started heading up while it was still dark.
