Mar 16, 2017 - Mt Beauty

My cousin Robyn, her husband Bjorn and their two beautiful girls, Alice and Daisy, arrived for lunch at about 11am. They are over from NZ for a short holiday mainly visiting some of the relatives in Victoria but are having a few days to themselves at Bright. That was until I organised them to meet us at Mt Beauty! But, it is only 1/2 an hour away and a nice drive from one valley to the next. I had done most of my prep for lunch either last night or this morning, so apart from cooking the steak on the BBQ, (Ian's job), I was able to just...

Mar 15, 2017 - Wodonga to Mt Beauty

After a lovely nights sleep, we woke to a bright sunny morning. We weren't in a big rush this morning, so took the dogs for another walk along the dam edge after breakfast before packing up and hitting the road again. We had to go back into Wodonga for some petrol, but were well on our way to Mt Beauty by 11am and arrived at Tawonga caravan park, which is about 6k from township of Mt Beauty just before lunch. I had found the park on the web and wasn' t really sure what it would be like. However, it has turned out to be another gem. The park...

Apr 23, 2012 - Our first day

23/03/2012 Last of the packing done early Monday morning and on the road at 10:30 am. Drove through Lot's of heavy rain on the way, when we got to Bonnie Doon we were amazed at the water level of Eildon Weir, it was as high as we have ever seen it. We decided to free camp at Oxley rather than arrive in Mount Beauty late afternoon, found a good spot at the local recreation reserve and had a good nights sleep. Now about to continue on to Mount Beauty. 24/03/2012 Mount Beauty is just as lovely as ever, the autumn colours are spectacular. We...

Jazzabout Trip 2012

Jun 26, 2011 - Our trip to home

We commenced our trip Friday, leaving the Hotel at Budapest 0530hrs - very early! First flight was to Frankfurt, Germany - going the wrong way we thought, yes, thats right but we needed to go to a big international airport to leave the EU (European Union) area. When we arrived we had to go out and then come back in again and line up once again. Yes, through customs, and passport check. When we looked for a transfer desk - there was none, so we had to line up once more with no baggage, just our carry-on (as our suitcases had got the pass to...

Jul 22, 2009 - Home to Mount Beauty

Today was our 78th day on the road. It was time to return home, back to Mount Beauty. We left Clifton Springs, near Geelong, with sunshine and the forecast of a windy day, and showers expected in the afternoon. We said goodbye to our middle daughter Sarah after having morning tea with her at Geelong, and then drove up to the City of Melbourne. It took an hour travelling along the freeway from Geelong to Melbourne. We had to cross over the Westgate bridge before entering the tunnel to go from one side of the city to the other - amazing how...

May 6, 2009 - We left home today

Today was the 1st day of our new adventure, and we finally left the Kiewa valley, leaving behind those beautifully snow capped mountains. We had a couple of things to do in Albury, so we drove north, completed our chores, and then turned left to follow the Murray river along to our first destination -> a motel at Moama. Well, we have now entered into a new phase of the feeling of 'being on holidays'. Tonight we are going to work out some more of our itinerary, so I guess you will just have to wait and see where we get to next.
