Oct 31, 2017 - Tasmania Trip 2017

Today we left our " most beautiful " Caravan Park, will have to try not to make comparisons with other parks. We moved to Triabunna. A small township, which is the step off for Maria Island. We have decided not to go, and David and Ann will be going later with Jeff, Ross, and girls. We walked around the town and down to the harbour, very pretty. Found a shop at the harbour selling freshly cooked and local fish and chips, so Ann decided that would be good for her birthday dinner. It has been a lovely sunny day, the breeze quite cool...

Tasmania Trip 2017

Feb 13, 2014 - Maria Island

Today got off to a bad start when I locked the car key in the car, but fortunately the guy from the car club (like AAA) came quickly and got the car open. Jan 28, 2014 - Triabunna

Moved on to Tribunna today, this port was for the soldiers from Maria Island to stay. The Barracks are still there and are up for sale, someone had tried to turn it into a museum and café refurbishment was too high. The port now is used for the cray fisherman and some large recreational boats also for the ferry to take campers to the Island. The caravan park was expensive and squashed in like sardines. There were fires in Hobart that day as the temp reached 37 deg. The evening sky glowed red. Heading out tomorrow.

Jan 7, 2012 - Fantastic walk with KT and Andy from Fortescue bay to Cape Hauy

It was not quite so sunny but still nice so we drove to Fortescue Bay in the Tasmin National Park to do a 4hr walk to Cape Hauy. It is a 12km stoney gravel road down to the bay and seemed never ending but it was worth it as the walk was fantastic. The scenery was spectacular and they had just spent 8 million dollars renovating the track which made the going although still quite rough brilliant at times with good steps instead of dangerous slippery scree.

Mar 17, 2011 - Maria Island National Park & Triabunna
