Late out of the township of Burra as we slept in a bit. We headed out to the old copper mines of Burra (mid 1800's) where the Cornish and Welsh miners worked under some pretty ordinary conditions. The huge Cornish Engine house, made of blue stone, that housed the pump for extracting water from the mine shafts has been restored and the views from the top floor are impressive as is the size of the timber in the building.
