Nov 8, 2018 - Outer Harbour and Hahndorf

8/11/2018. Thursday. Overcast, Sunny, warm out of the wind Semaphore Beach, Adelaide Ian and I drove past Port Adelaide to Outer Harbour were we saw the South Australian Yacht Club, the liner terminal and the facility where the new submarines are made. In all the years we’ve visited Adelaide, we haven’t been here before. We then met Robbie and Emma and had lunch overlooking the beach, which was lovely, and great to catch up with Emma. We’ve been fortunate enough to see Robbie 3 times in the 5 days we’ve been here. We love that...

Nov 7, 2018 - Semaphore Caravan Park

7/11/2018. Wednesday. Wet, cold, windy. Some sun & blue sky in afternoon Semaphore Beach. Adelaide. Adelaide, what are you doing to us? We had the electric blanket on last night and after a sleepless night with the rolled up awning flapping in the strong wind, this morning was bitterly cold and wet. We met Robbie for brunch and we had field mushrooms on cous cous and spinach with poached eggs. Divine! Rob had a haloumi burger, and the haloumi was delicious and well cooked - not hard or tough as it can be. This was a real treat for us -...

Nov 7, 2018 - Hazel & Ron’s day out

Addition to yesterday’s posting. We each went our separate ways - Ian and I meeting Robbie, and Hazel and Ron went into the city. This is notes of their day. Another wet, windy and cold day as Hazel and I headed off to catch our train into town. We were here many years ago but were looking forward to refreshing our memories. Walked around the town and went to the Central Adelaide markets with beautiful fresh foods of all description and amazing array of cheeses. You can guess that we couldn't resist buying some cheese however we could...

Nov 6, 2018 - Semaphore Caravan Park

6/11/2018. Tuesday. Cold, wet and windy, clearing in afternoon Semaphore Beach, Adelaide The wind was blowing a gale, so bad that we had to take the awning down, the rain was bucketing down and it was very, very cold. But we’ll soldier on and go out as planned. Today is Melbourne Cup day, and such is our holiday that I didn’t realise it until I saw morning TV. We have gone weeks without seeing tv and only listened to the radio when in the car. And we have survived!!! We made a slight detour and drove past the house I lived in 60 years ago...

Nov 5, 2018 - Semaphore, Adelaide

5/11/2018. Monday. Overcast; light rain; sunshine Semaphore, Adelaide It rained lightly during the night and was overcast when we woke. It was a short sleep for us because Robbie (#1 grandson) came around after he finished work at 9pm. We had a cuppa and cake and chatted. It was so lovely to see him, and I was impressed to see his handsome face minus beard!!! Robbie left some time after midnight - that made it the latest night we’ve gone to bed since we’ve been away. We slept well. Ron had a dental appointment this morning, so he and Hazel...

Nov 4, 2018 - Peterborough Free Camp to Semaphore Caravan Park

4/11/2018. Sunday. Sunny and warm, late light rain Peterborough to Semaphore Caravan Park After a cold night, which turned out not to be as cold as we thought, we woke to a beautiful clear morning. We travelled through beautiful countryside with rolling hills in the distance and acres of grain either side of the road, to Clare in the wine region, where we stopped and made a purchase at the bakery - it’s been sooo long! Clare is a lovely town with some beautiful old stone buildings still being used for their original purpose. We could nearly...
