Dec 19, 2016 - Port Julia

We decided to stay another day at Port Julia, mainly because the weather had turned really hot again and we really couldn’t be bothered packing up. We also had stayed up a bit later last night watching the test cricket and the Carols in the Domain, and weren’t really in a rush to go anywhere in particular, so as it is such a nice campsite, we have decided to stay. We took the dogs for a walk along the beach again after breakfast- it is another one of those really good beaches to walk the dogs with cliffs one side, lots of rocks for the dogs...

We drove back into Port Vincent first thing this morning so that I could do some washing at the caravan park (we had checked with them yesterday if I could do some washing there as the nearest laundromat is about 40kaway). We took the dogs for a quick walk along the foreshore whilst the washing was in the machine. It was a perfect morning for a walk beside the beach. Port Vincent seems a really nice town and is showing signs of how busy it is going to get over the next few weeks. The caravan park is already quite busy and there were kids...

Dec 17, 2016 - Goldsmith’s Beach to Port Julia

After a quick walk on the beach, we packed up and hit the road again about 9am. We stopped briefly in Edithburgh for some fuel then headed for Port Vincent. Between these two towns we saw something that really highlighted the business of the wheat and barley harvest season around here, and that was about 200 grain trucks lined up beside the road waiting to be weighed (there were about 6 weigh bridges in operation) before unloading their grain. It seemed to be in the middle of nowhere really- just these huge silos and a ship at the jetty...

He went out in the kayak after lunch and caught 2 crabs and 2 squid one squid was huge. 5/4 Today was so different to yesterday cloudy and windy. Peter was disappointed as he wanted to go out and get a few more squid. We did go and get 45 razorfish before it got to windy. We spent the afternoon...

Apr 3, 2015 - Port Julia

3/4 Not a good day to go fishing as the wind is up so we went for a drive down to Port Vincent. It is sheltered so there were a few out crabbing with the rake. You can only do this at low tide. We have never raked for crabs even though we do have a rake but we have scooped for crabs when in WA. We then went down to Stansbury. The jetty here was very busy.I walked out to the end but it was freezing with the wind blowing. We had lunch here. It is a very pretty little place and very popular both caravan parks are full. We are only around...
