Apr 14, 2016 - Port Augusta to Pimba

Thursday April 14 Port Augusta to Roxby Downs This warm, sunny morning we were part of the mass exodus heading north – we now really feel as if we’re on a Big Trip. Driving was easy and surprisingly interesting. The landscape is ever changing – flat with little vegetation; mesas and buttes; dense, low scrub. Apr 14, 2016 - Woomera to Pimba

From Woomera, a short drive to Spuds Roadhouse at Pimba – a free camp where a gold coin donation at the bar is requested to maintain the basic showers and toilets. Met travellers Peter, Bob and Di who are heading in our direction in a similar timeframe, so no doubt there will be some happy hour catch ups along the way. Stats: 360 klms and a beautiful day. The sunset was also stunning.

Stopped opposite the caravan park to refill water tanks - 20c for 30 litres. Not the easiest hose to use, and Gary managed to get rather damp. All in the experience of our visit! Doing the trip in reverse to a few days ago did little to change the scenery. Lots of flat dry country, lots of salt bushes, and a bit of road kill. Also saw some cows near the edge of the road that just...

Jul 3, 2013 - Adelaide to Pimba/Woomera

.After a lazy start We set off from Adelaide this morning and drove about 500 Klms today. We'll probably do the same tomorrow passing through CooberPedy. The landscape is very flat or slightly undulating but the horizon goes on forever. The road is quite narrow although the road is good. The road trains usually have three trailers. We have stopped at a roadhouse for the night where other caravans are also stopped. There are not many stops along the way. We had lamb cutlets for dinner. We're at a place called Pimba very near Woomera rocket...
