Apr 21, 2013 - Uluru to Painted Desert

Day 25 of our fun – Sunday 21 April 2013 Ayers Rock Resort to Arckaringa Station (Painted Desert) Unfortunately we got up knowing we had to leave the beautiful site of Uluru. We packed up and had one last look at Uluru and Kata Tjuta from viewing platform in the caravan park. After we said goodbye to this place we had to get in the car. This place has been a highlight for me. We got on the road and pumped up our tyres for the bitumen road we were travelling on today. Today we are not sure how far we would travel and where we would stay....

Apr 6, 2013 - Coward Springs to Algebuckina Bridge

Day 10: Saturday 6 April Coward Springs to Algebuckina Bridge / Sunny and hot via Oodnadatta Track Day 10 of our voyage Today we had a bit of a sleep in as today was going to be a restful today. We had a swim in the bore and had a look at the museum. It was all based on the Old Ghan railway. The old building was what the engine driver used to live in. It was very fascinating and had a lot of stories and history about the Ghan railway. We had been asked to collect a dog spike from the railway so we collected some off the side of the road....

May 22, 2010 - Algebunkin

Today saw us complete the Birdsville Track at Marree and then travel up the Oodnadatta Track to camp on the banks of the Algebunkin Creek about 55 Km from Oodnadatta. The track conditions have generally been excellent and we have been able to sit on 100 Kph for most parts. It is still obvious that the Oodnadatta track has been very wet recently, with a number of ‘churned up’ sections. Our first stop this morning was Marree where we topped up our fuel. We should be right for fuel now until we get to Alice Springs. Fuel has been getting...

May 22, 2010 - Clayton's Crossing to Algebuckina

Day 4: Clayton's Crossing to Algebuckina (near Oodnadatta). Kilometres approx. 400/roadkill = 3/arguments = o/breakdowns = 1. Woke to the sound of zip at 4:45am. Long time before sun came up. Lee cooked us scrambled eggs for breakfast. Delicious. Followed a long white dirt road which was only a little bumpy. Landscape flat to horizon except for occasional small conical hills. Checked out Lake Harry ruins - no sign of any lake - very thick stone walls obviously hand built, old iron bar lintels, lovely sandstone colour in the morning light....

Mar 9, 2007 - Oodnadatta Track - Die Wueste lebt
