Situated at the northern end of the Coorong on the shores of Lake Albert, Meningie combines all the charm of a small country town with the stunning natural beauty of the Coorong and Lower Lakes of the River Murray. Feb 23, 2016 - Heading off towards Melbourne

We had enjoyed our time around Adelaide and the Fleurieu peninsula but the time had come to head east towards Melbourne. It was a long drive round the huge Lake of Alexander , crossing the river Murray by ferry at Wellington and then driving round to Meningie on the shores of Lake Albert a 210 km trip. At one point only 22km from Meningie we were opposite Cattle point on the Younghusband peninsula sand dunes we had walked across on the Coorang cruise! It was an interesting trip round with very baried scenery and bird life and the campsite...

Aug 12, 2014 - Meningie

Panda and I left adelaide today. We didn't leave aunt Libbie's bungalow until 11.30 because we are definitely in holiday mode now !!! We had lunch in Hahndorf and set up camp next to lake Albert in Meningie . It's pretty cold- I'm in jeans wooly socks boots long sleeved shirt beanie scarf and Eskimo anorak and gloves - walking like a penguin (can't get my arms down against my sides) - but it was lovely watching the sunset over the lake. Tomorrow we are going to check out the coorong - "storm boy country" on our way to robe.

May 21, 2012 - Meningie

Forgot to update the "farmers market" saga. Sunday morning it was follow the crowd. How easy could that be? We did buy a couple of lamb steaks. Had half a one each for tea tonight. Unbelievable. Geez I'm a good cook. Freezin cold this morning. Mexican stand-off to who was going to get out bed first. ME! Put the kettle on and she got a cuppa in bed.
