Dec 15, 2016 - Port Victoria to Foul Bay

Not really one of our better days today! Our plan was to drive to the next town of Minlaton to look into buying permits to allow us to camp at any of the council beach camps around the coast, then to work out which one we would go to camp for a few days. Well, the first part of the plan went OK- the Information Centre had a list of all the camping sites and we were able to buy our passes from there as well. We decided that we would try Gleesons Landing first (right on the bottom of the ‘foot’ part of the Yorke Peninsula), then if that was...

May 28, 2016 - Marion Bay

Off to Marion Bay to see what we can see…. As you can see from the map Marion Bay is on the sole of York Peninsular just across from Kangaroo Island… This is also the furthest point from home for us this trip. Lots of new homes and its only 3 hours from Adelaide, we spotted a very nice 4 bed place opposite the beach (literally at the front door – you just have to get over the 1 metre high mound of decaying seagrass to get to the water) just reduced to $465,000, that’s cheaper than a 2 bed retirement villa at home… We took the scenic route...

Apr 1, 2015 - innes Nat Park

Leaving Barkers Rocks we head down to the bottom of York Peninsular to the Innes National Park.On arriving there we find all camp spots are full for Easter. We had a quick drive around the National Park it is quite pretty. We then head back to Marion Bay but as we thought it was booked out as well. All these little places are very popular at this time of the year. We decided to head back up the York Peninsular and see what we could find. Port Julia we had stayed at before and it is on the coast and has a jetty for fishing so decided we...

Mar 18, 2013 - Marion Bay

We have had a nice couple of quiet days in Marion Bay. The weather has been very cold so it left us no option but to watch the F1 GP from Melbourne over the weekend, (Damm I wish Mark Webber would learn how to start a race properly) It looks like the weather is starting to fine up a bit today so maybe we will be able to get out and about a bit. We are here until Thursday then into the Innes National Park at the bottom of the Yorke Peninsular for a few days before Easter. The caravan park we are in has been very busy but most have taken off...

Mar 14, 2013 - Marion Bay

Today we traveled a whole 95 kms from Stansbury to Marion Bay. We are in the Caravan Park for a week. The area is really nice and peaceful. The bay looks promising for fishing so we will give it a try in the next day or so. We want to wish my Grandson Liam a happy birthday today (we did ring him this morning and was told he is not 8 yet, because he was born at 7pm in the night). We have also got some exciting news with Steph's son Ian and his wife Sam just announcing that they are pregnant and expecting a baby in September this year (it...

Jan 15, 2009 - Innes National Park

I tried to sneak out for my early morning walk but all woke before I could leave, so had breakfast and forced diary writing ....what a chore!!!! We then apologised to the young couple that had camped behind us as I think we woke them!!! They were very sweet and suggested Innes National Park beaches for the kids to swim. We drove along corrugated roads to Dolphin Bay ....It was beautiful, almost as good as Esperance(slightly biased WA person!!!) It only lacked the squeaky sand!!! We drove to all the touristy sights and then headed back to...

Jan 14, 2009 - On our Way to Marion Bay ....Ardrossan Bakery!!!

We left at 9.30am with no breakfast as I did not do any shopping yesterday so no bread(no bakery open till next Monday in town) and we have run out of milk and cereal!!! The kids had Fruit slushies and fruit for a make do breakfast. We finally arrived at Ardrossan and had brunch ....the yummiest pies, sausage rolls, salad rolls, lamingtons, donuts we have had for awhile. Also more importantly, the coffee they made was the best I also have had so far in SA, not milky and weak....see Nathan you have educated me on the correct strength a latte...
