After leaving Meningie we set off along the coorong. This is where the movie Storm Boy is set and I saw some little fishermans shacks similar to where storm boy lived The coorong is a long narrow lagoon sandwiched between the mainland and an outer row of white as dunes which protect it from the ocean The vegetation is coastal heath similar to wedge which gave me a pang of homesickness One difference is that there are southern hairy nosed wombats here

Where are the foodie bits we are being asked? We do have a good food radar but we could have been a lot better prepared for this journey. We rather stumbled upon Coonawarra today and then up the road was Padthaway! We were a bit time poor and so only had time to visit one winery and chose Wynns in Coonawarra. It’s an interesting area with all the wineries side by side along the Riddoch Highway, all beautifully landscaped and it was hard to choose! It could have been a nice place for lunch too but we had stopped in Casterton at the Say Grace...

Jan 16, 2006 - SA: Limestone Coast & Coorong National Park

We haven't really planned the trip once we've left the Great Ocean Road, so we feel lucky to stumble across the Limestone Coast, which you'll find if you follow the coast road from the Victorian border to Adelaide. The plan is to follow coastal tracks from Beachport (a lovely town just up the coast from where we've camped that I wish we'd had more time to explore), up to Robe. We pass through pretty sandy, duney country and tiny little hamlets like Nora Creina. Stu falls in love with Nora Creina, but to me it feels a bit like...
