I think geologically the Nullarbor is technically only about 200kms long however most would consider it is the drive between Eucla (WA) and Ceduna (SA) about 500kms. ... For mine the real crossing is the 1400kms of driving, without a single turn, between the towns of Norseman and Ceduna. ... never mind I’ll put the kettle on Arriving in Ceduna we finally had to stop at the border checkpoint, only 500kmns from the border and a third of the way across the state. ... They schlepped whatever needed schlepping from Darwin in the north or from Adelaide in the south into the middle of the continent. ... We are now 22 hours into our grueling trek on this train known as The Ghan which, for the past 80 years, has travelled from Adelaide to Alice Springs and, for the past 5 years, has continued on to Darwin – 3 days and nights and about 3,000 km. ... We have just passed the Iron Man monument which honours the laying of railroad tie number 1,000,000 on the way north from Adelaide. ... How is a person supposed to live like that! Humans – 1 Kenneth (the iPhone GPS, remember?) – 0 Apparently, Kenneth had a hard time accepting that the M2 Freeway was closed (for repairs? for a kangaroo convention crossing? who knows? But it was closed down shut). ...
