Jul 16, 2016 - Queensland here we come!

Hi Everyone We've spent the last month going between Murwillumbah and the Gold Coast so that Paul and I could do the required number of range attendances to keep our shooters licences. The guys at the range we visited were very welcoming, so helpful and extremely encouraging. The range was only small and hidden away on farm land so we had to drive the motorhome down dirt tracks and across fields of cows with me jumping in and out to open and close the farmers gates to get to the range. We will miss our weekend meets. During our last night...

Our Aussie Adventure

May 6, 2014 - Noosa Heads, QLD, AUS

Finally - a shorter drive. Only 108 miles today, but several stops along the way. All of our roads in Australia have been pretty straight and level. Frequent passing (overtaking) lanes and often even divided highway. On our way out of Hervey Bay we drove along the esplanade (the 'espy') and saw the long pier and the boat harbor. Then it was an hours drive to our first stop, Harry's Opals. Harry apparently does a pretty deep discount for Fantasy Tours, and he did a brisk business today. He also provided a very nice spread of crepes, cakes...

Feb 8, 2014 - Last day in Noosa Heads

Hello, Today was a non-busy day. Started with our tasty breakfast, mostly tasty anyway, until we decided to try Vegemite! The stories I have heard are not exaggerated. We all tasted on a piece of toast at the same time, and we all struggled to keep it down. But keep it down we did. Needed juice and more Danish to get rid of the taste though! Keith decided to go solo down to the beach. It was our first blue sky day, and he really enjoyed the heat. Simon and I decided to stay back and D.E.A.R. (Which is a school term for Drop Everything And...

Feb 7, 2014 - Another good day.

Today we did everything we had planned. We went hiking or 1.5 hours. We followed a boardwalk hiking trail that had ocean surf on one side and forest with gum trees on the other. We were told we may see dolphins and sea turtles and koalas, but alas, the only native wildlife we have seen are something we are calling turkey birds and the dusk showing of a sky full of bats. The hike was lovely and we came back for our buffet breakfast. We played some cards on the deck, went to the pool, returned to cook some lunch, and then went to the ocean....

Feb 6, 2014 - Getting into the swing of things

First full free day. We started with a wonderful buffet breakfast that is across the street from our apartment. We came back and after a "rest", we decided to walk into town to an IGA. We bought a few provisions and this makes our time here easier, in that we have good cheap food and don't have to worry about where we will eat. Today we had grilled ham and cheese sandwiches (no orange cheddar here, only white), some oranges and juice. Nice. Then it was to the pool. I think it was a bit cool for the Aussie tourists, as both pools were...

Feb 5, 2014 - Another tiring day, then Awesomeness.

Last night we managed to stay up until 6:30pm and then I think we were all asleep in 5 seconds. I woke up around 2 am, then 4 (and texted mom for a bit) but we all managed to stay "sleepingish" until 6:30. We went for something to eat, then came back to figure out the Garmin. We used it to walk to our rental car place. We then commenced with the most interesting driving experience ever. Not only are the steering wheel and road orientation different then ours, apparently so are the windshield wipers and turn signals. We drove the 4 blocks...

Dec 23, 2013 - Happy Christmas from Noosa Heads on the Sunshine Coast

Hi everyone this is our Christmas blog! When we left you it was Friday night and we had arrived at Rockhampton YHA. We were allocated a room that was a portacabin and had been used in the Sydney Olympics as part of the athletes village. It was remarkably comfortable after the several nights we had been camping. On Saturday morning we continued our drive leaving Rockhampton and heading south out of the tropics (again!) and to our next destination which was about 4 hours away and a small campsite on the coast, close to Bundaberg. This...

Nov 22, 2013 - Noosa and climbing

Hi!

May 6, 2013 - Back at Noosa

May 6 - 11 Our next intended stop was a 4 star rating van park at Harvey Bay that advertised having the only mineral spa in the area. Cazza thought this would have good healing qualities, but we were quite disappointed on arriving and realising we are still learning to interpret the true meaning of caravan park descriptions. We think they are a bit like real estate adds. Harvey Bay didn't really impress us much and so we decided to continue on to Noosa where we previously stayed. We spent a lovely week there. Davo did much better fishing in...

Davo and Cazza 2013

Feb 21, 2013 - Noosa

Woke up today and the sun was shining! So we headed down to a place called SouthBanks. It's a nice little area in the middle of the city. You can hop on a ferry, ride the Ferris wheel gondola, or lay on a man-made beach along a pool over looking the river. We opted for just a stroll through the area. Since parking was an issue here and ours had run out, we decided to head across the bridge into the downtown shopping sector. The hostel guy said it was a nice area to walk around and browse. And wouldn't you know it, we came across a market!...

Engagement honeymoon

Jan 26, 2013 - Noosa and Cyclone Oswald!

When we left for Noosa the weather was so bad, raining so much. We saw a group go off to Fraser Island and they looked so cold, miserable and very wet – we were so pleased we had gone when the weather was lovely. When we arrived in Noosa, there was a big poster about Australia Day but the weather was still very wet. As we haven’t got any more tours booked, we went to Coles (the local supermarket) and brought some food to start making our meals and a grocery bag – check us out. The first night we had pasta with vegetables with a small salad...

Sep 16, 2012 - Drive to Noosa beach

Again another relaxing day. After too KANGA snags for brekkie we take a trip over to Noosa. It's a lit different to what I expected and still has a nice beach groove. After getting a bob smith park we head for the boardwalk and joshie builds a couple of sand castles and jumps a few waves. The sand is beautiful and soft and everywhere you look it's clean and peaceful. A quick stop to top up the baked bean cupboard before having a relaxing afternoon . Joshie taking to having full conversations in the last few days and we think it must be di's...
