Cairns to Lakeland 250kms 50kms gravel Using iPhone, will post photos of Cape York trip when we return to Cairns around 22nd. After buying everything we needed to change from caravanning to rent camping we were ready to set off on our Cape York adventure! Car is packed to the limit!! We chose to drive along the scenic Black Mountain Rd through heritage listed rainforest, pine plantations and forest. It's amazing how the scenery can change so rapidly. We got to see some extra sights after taking a wrong turn at an unmarked fort in the road,...

May 15, 2006 - Australian Rain forrests..
Here after cyclone Larry hit in March 06 there could be seen extensive damage to the sugar, banana, and rare fruit farms as well as many old rain forest trees snapped off and lots of roofs of homes blown off. Next to the wet rain forests they have dry rain forests..same basic plants grow but there is much less rain fall. The there is the Maui forest which is strictly a host forest no parasite plants only plants and ferns which use the trees as a host in return they protect the tree from predators. In the Maui forest..the third eco system...

Jul 6, 2005 - Fra Cairns til Cooktown gjennom outbacken
Onsdag 6.juli Etter en lang og avslappende morgen, la to halvslappe sjeler i vei, mot Cooktown som hoveddestinasjon. Vi kjørte innenlandsruta oppover, for å kjøre kystruta ned igjen. Første etappe var å klatre seg oppover regnskogen til Kuranda. Kuranda er en liten landsby med ikke mer enn 670 innbyggere. Her var vi innom Kuranda markets, hvor de solgte forskjellige ting,som: didgeridoos, boomeranger, smykker og annet krims krams. Vi dro også for å få med oss det kjente Barron Falls, kortene viser et mektig fossefall, mens det var så vidt...
