Today was our last trip with our guide, Del. Today's trip was to Mt. Lewis, which Kingfisher's Lodge is located at the foot of. Del picked us up promptly at 7:30 am. The weather was sunny and pleasant. As usual, Del tailored our tour to see our targeted birds. Today's birds were higher elevation birds and therefore, were somewhat different than in the past. Oct 7, 2012 - Calypso Snorkeling on the Great Barrier Reef and Drive to Julatten to Kingfisher Park Birdwatcher Lodge

Today was our day to the Great Barrier Reef. We were cheated out of an hour's sleep, since Mabel's phone was set to Sydney time. The state of Queensland does not go on "summer time," our daylight savings time,) but the state of New South Wales does. The boat ride out to the reef is about an hour and a half. During that time, we went through a crash course in SCUBA diving. We went to three sites on the Opal Reef. What a beautiful place and delightful experience.
