May 9, 2016 - Day 23

Day23 Left the camper to dry out and drove up into the mountains through Chillingham to look at the natural bridge. Got to the top of the mountain and there was the border into Queensland this is 420 meters above sea level It was great and you would be proud of me as the walk was a 1kms round and many steps looking down, but it was worth it. Helped a family whose small girl fell into nettles and was very itchy, out came our first aid kit and on with some soothe gel. On the way down at Bray Park It got down to 8ms ASL. Drove thought Tweed...

Left the caravan park at about 9.30am and drove to East Ipswich railway station. Had to confirm with a lady on the other side of the tracks that I was on the correct side to go to Brisbane. The trip to South Brisbane station takes about 3/4 of an hour. The entrance to the station is directly opposite the QPAC so I went in and collected my ticket then walked across the bridge to the city where I found a large food hall and had some sushi for brunch. After that I wandered around the shops for a while (but didn't buy anything!) picked up a...

Hello everyone, Left Toowoomba at about 7.30 and got to Ipswich I think it was about 9:30 or so. The lady at the caravan park, to whom I spoke last week and made a booking, could not find me in the computer but did have a drive-thru spot available. If you look at the photo I have uploaded you can see where I am parked. There is no way I could ever get the van level so I did the best i could. There is also no way I can get my grey water into the sullage pit which is on the upper side of the spot, unless I can figure out a way to get water to...

Over the border we went into Queensland, first destination 'Minden' which is west of Brisbane. I had another friend I wanted to call on but this time I made contact with her first. It was great to catch up with Robyn who I worked with back in the 80's. Pete chatted to Ivan whilst Robyn showed me her soap & shin care making hobby/business. It was very interesting and she was very generous giving me lots of goodies which I will use on my trip. Robyn sells at the markets and online. A bit of a change for her from working in Head Office...

We booked in at the Ipswich Showgrounds for a few days to catch up with my aunt and cousins. Heather, Gail and Robyn visited us for lunch one day and we had some Big Dad’s pies. If you ever come to Ipswich, you must try these pies – yummy. And they’ve got mushy peas! NSW (southern parts) and Victorian pie shops haven’t got a clue about mushy peas. A lady at one shop offered to put some tinned peas on my pie for me. Very un-Australian! Gail’s husband Mike cooked us a lovely dinner one night. Barry says Mike’s a better cook than him but I...
