Feb 16, 2013 - Singing in the rain
We woke up, after a night of torrential rain, to.... more rain. No surprise there then. We thought that perhaps we would drive down to the harbour and see about going across to Frazer Island independently and not as part of a tour. Following further investigation we found that a) we could go as foot passengers or b) we could take our 4WD over and drive ourselves. We were oh so tempted to take the car, but after calling Tom and seeking advice, we decided against it. Just as well because on further investigation we found our hire agreement...

Good Bye Brisbane. We had a blast. We reckoned it was about a 4 hour drive to Hervey Bay but we wanted to stop off at Noosa first, as everyone had told us how lovely it was there. Needless to say the rain was back with us. Hello old friend, we haven’t seen you for a day. Oops my mistake, you dropped in on us last night, when we were on our way out to dinner, and curled my hair again for me. Well, rain or not, off we set, Sat Nav at the ready. We proceeded along quite well, but somehow went wrong. Deviating off of Bruce Highway to end up on...

Today we flew from Cairns to Brisbane. Our Qantas experience did not disappoint us. We prepaid $20 for one extra checked bag when we checked in, on-line. To our surprise, the baggage police were waiting when we arrived at the airport. They were very strict with the 23 kilo limit on checked bags and 7 kilo limit for our carry-on bags. With fifteen minutes before their cut off to accept luggage, we set to the task of redistributing our bags. Another $30 was paid and we were on our way. $50 was still less than the $100 for the last flight. We...

Sep 24, 2012 - Hervey bay
Had a bit of a lazy day today. Drove around Hervey bay. Marc really likes the feel of the place. The night brought thunder and lightning, our first qkd storm which made skyping mum and dad a little difficult. Temperature didn't drop much over night 23. Really starting to feel we are in a warmer climate.

Sep 22, 2012 - Day 4 Fraser Island
Woke up this morning with gastro not pretty. We decide to pack up and head out early. Just past Eli creek we finally capture our first sign of dingos two sitting in the middle of the track having just gone for a swim. Joshiemoo is excited. We get to the spot where it's time to go inland againand marc gets bogged in the sand. Lucky fir him a convoy of lads have just got off the barge and are pimped about the weekend so they can't get there quick enough to toe him out. As we get back in the car after thanking them we are lucky enough to spot...

Sep 17, 2012 - Bundaberg to Hervey Bay
A days rest for journal entry, lets recap!! Bundaberg well, is another country town with inner charm but widely spread and attractions not where you would expect....out in the sticks they were!! 5.45am wake up yesterday, which ended up working in well, as we were visiting the Bundaberg Rum Distillery before heading on the road to Hervey Bay. So with time to spare we googled if any local markets were on and voila our time was filled in for the 10am opening time of the distillery. The markets were brilliant, walking in we were blown away by...

Jul 23, 2012 - Hervey Bay
Arrived in Hervey Bay to a town with full caravan parks. After visiting 2, we decided it was more prudent to get on the phone. Finally, after 8 / 9 calls, found a spot for 1 night. (must be at least 20 caravan parks) Got there and set up just in time for happy hour in the campers kitchen. Met a couple from Tassie who were leaving in the morning and weren't messing around cooking tea. They knew of a fish & chip shop (run entirely by women) and that sounded pretty good to me. I was offered a lift 'cause I think they thought I was over the...

Jan 22, 2012 - Eventyret fortsaetter
