Episode 3 of 9 – Yeppoon to Port Augusta Miles to Goondiwindi Goondiwindi is 4225kms from Dunsborough. Goondiwindi – pronounced Gundiwindi. This is the final frontier town before the New South Wales border, which we should cross over into the day after tomorrow. We were last in the town in late January, when we stayed overnight on our way to Melbourne trying to avoid all the floods. I’m not going to bore you with road conditions as I’ve come to the conclusion that ALL Queensland roads are absolutely crap. The drive was very flat and pretty...

Living the Dream

May 11, 2011 - Goondiwindi

9th May. This morning we said goodbye to Rosie and Ron, they have been so kind and hospitable during our stay in Toowoomba. We headed for Goondiwindi, we stopped at a very nice rest park on the edge of the town of Inglewood for lunch, which was pleasant. It rained most of last night, but until we were about 40 klms from Goondiwindi, it had been cloudy but sunny, then the sky became quite black with rain clouds, no sooner had we arrived at the Gundy Star Tourist Park, as the rains came. This caravan park has an Artesian Spa and Pool, the...

Roma to Goondiwindi Goondiwindi – pronounced Gundiwindi. I’m not going to bore you with road conditions as I’ve come to the conclusion that ALL Queensland roads are absolutely appalling (unless you like driving on rollercoasters). Plenty of evidence of the recent flooding in the area during the trip and the roads are a minefield of really bad potholes (told you I wasn’t going to mentions roads). I had heard of Goondiwindi before but had no idea it was so big, with a population of around 11,000. The town is very neat with very wide streets...

Living the Dream

Apr 22, 2008 - 22nd April, Lake Leslie

Tuesday 22nd April...not many photos taken today so I've included a few from the past 5 weeks. Narrabri, 1st stop before leaving Narrabri was a visit to the Australian Cotton Centre...watched an excellent 3D movie on cotton farming then followed a step by step pictorial display about the whole industry. An real professional presentation. We're now full bottles on cotton farming. Drove out towards Moree, saw fields of cotton ready to be harvested, also sunflowers and we think sorghum. Country now very flat and not a lot to see except...

Jan 17, 2007 - Goondiwindi

This morning we got to go to the Tenterfield Saddler. The building is very old and other than usual maintenance, is in original condition. That's including the tobacco stains on the ceiling. There was no one working but a staff member was there to make sales. Of course the items were quite pricy but of top quality. They also have a return policy that has no date. In other words, made to last. Part of the Tenterfield Saddler history is that the first saddler was Peter Allen's Grandfather. That is of course the man that he sung about in his...
