EINASLEIGH: 20th July. This morning we took a walk from the Cobbald Village to the Russell Lookout. This took us through stony grassland for about 2 km and then up a very steep track of a tree covered mountain where upon reaching the top we had great views of the surrounding area and mountain ranges. We walked back half the way we had come and then took another track which took us further through rocky grasslands and through some creek beds. Thursday 1st May....our decision to take the inland route may have been a mistake. The road started out as a 2 lane bitumen but soon changed to a very narrow strip of rough bitumen. I remember reading a notice in Charters Towers about road trians and how to deal with them on the road. Seems this is the road they were talking about. Lots of road trains and when one is approaching all you can do is get right off the bitumen because he wants ALL of it.
