Last night we took the wrong turn and ended up on the opposite highway we needed to be on to end up at Nebo via a nicely paved road. So once discovered we had made this error we were already 150km’s in and if we continued on the highway it would add on another 300km’s to our journey to get to Hay Point. So we decided to take a side road (unpaved gravel) that consisted of the desert red dirt you see in photos from Australia, true outback roads. Sweet Jebus! is all I can say. What a wrong decision that was. The unpaved red gravel road started...

Jun 10, 2011 - Aus - Day 38 - Clermont Blair Athol Coal Mine tour
Woke up and drove to the local Clermont library to see if we could get on the 8:30am tour bus to the Blair Athol Coal Mine. As luck would have it they had a reservation for Jason (we had emailed the night prior requesting to attend the tour but never hear back from anyone) so we were able to get on. The bus holds 21 and with the two of us there were 18. All older couples, most aussie’s from other parts more south of Clermont. Bus tour was just a little over two hours long. I had intended combining all our stops in our dash from Airlie Beach to Melbourne, but have discovered that the software I’m using for our Journal can’t handle the mapping side of things if I do that. You have to create an individual “entry” for each stop, else it won’t appear on the map. So please bear with me as I will create a new (very short) entry for each stop on the way on a daily basis for the next couple of weeks.. Sep 25, 2010 - Farmers... and cows!
On fait 8 heures de route inland pour aller a la ferme ou le "copain" a Shani travaille. On passe 2 nuits la-bas, et c'est tellement cool! Trop different, calme paisible, il y a rien a faire et c'est le fun! On a relaxe, lit, dormi, s'est fait de souper avec du vin...la belle vie quoi! Ca l'a vallut le detour! Vois photos sur facebook!
