Jun 5, 2005 - Cape Tribulation - The new Crocodile Hunter!

So we set off in our new house - a fabulous campervan, affectionately named 'the Beast' by me! It was such a great 5 days, we could stop where we wanted, when we wanted, and OH YEAH we did! Visited the Barron Gorge and Waterfall, drove through part of the Atherton Tablelands, did rainforest walks, strolled along the Mossman Gorge (in the rain and me in my fabulous Sky Sports Poncho - see photos when we add them in a few days!), visited the beach in sun and rain, and the point where the rainforest meets the sea! We also boarded the Croc...

Jun 1, 2005 - Cape Tribulation (09/05/05 - 10/05/05)

A long way up and barely a soul around. A good place to pause for a moment and think. Because there isn't anything else to do. Beautiful though, but couldn't swim on the beach because of the Crocodiles. Satisfying all the same though because so few other Backpackers ever get this far (you need a 4x4 for the river crossings and the mud) so the fact that you are here and they aren't, feels really good. So named because Capt. Cooke hit the reef here and ripped up his ship pretty well. It wearied him somewhat, according to archive records.

Simon -off to Oz!

May 25, 2005 - Cape Tribulation/Daintree Rainforest

Just stopped at the local Information Centre and saw that they had Internet so we decided to just give a little update as to where we are and how we are doing.............. After spending one night in Cairns (or just outside of Cairns), we drove upto the Daintree National Rainforest. On the way along the coast, we saw our first glimps of the coast and it looked beautiful. The water is about three different shades of blue, all clear and inviting. The waves were huge and the beaches are a very rich white sand. We both couldn't stop saying,...

May 16, 2005 - Cape Tribulation

We collected a hire car this morning to drive up to Cape Tribulation, north of Port Douglas. Luckily Steve can remember how to drive! I'm not able to as I left my driving licence in the UK however it is nice to be chauffeured about. Our first stop on our road trip is some of the beaches north of Cairns where we stop for a quick look and our breakfast picnic before getting on the road again. The beaches were absolutely deserted and beautiful. Back on the road we are soon in Daintree where we get the chain ferry across to the Daintree...

May 11, 2005 - Cape Tribulation and the nightwalk

May 9, 2005 - naar The Cape

Mar 8, 2005 - Cape Tribulation, Australia

Mar 6 - 7 Heading up to the cape today March the 6th. Boarded a Jungle tours bus with a crazy aussie hippy tour guide Jo. First stop was Mossmans gorge for a walk thru the jungle with the hippy tellings us about the vegatation and then a swim in the gorge which was amazing. Swiming in the pools between the cascading falls and rapids. The water was so pure the town does not even purify there drinking water, it was like a postcard. On the way up to the cape we took the cable ferry over the Daintree River before arriving at our destination....
