Mar 4, 2014 - Australia Zoo

Monday 3rd March Today was a tour around the Sunshine Coast south, we went to Mooloolaba and Kings Beach and many others for a look. Some lovely beaches, as you would expect, the councils have completed some brilliant functional foreshores. We had lunch at the local breakwater and commercial fisherman's wharf where there were about 8 seafood cafe's and restaurants. We had been told to try the first one on the right, so we did. It was fine, 1 meal of fish, chips and salads was plenty for both of us and at $12.90 was fairly priced. We...

Sep 12, 2012 - Visit to Australia zoo

Today we went to the Australia. From xxxxxxxx the beginning we were extremely impressed! Joshie got to pat a baby alligator and see a beautiful parrot at the beginning of the day. His favorite animals were the otters, rainforest bird aviary, emu and the camel. The croc show was great but I think the birds got more attention from joshie than the crocs did. We were impressed with how much space each animal had, how people could have close encounters and spend time with animals of their choice and how feeding them cost nothing at certain...

Aug 17, 2011 - Australia Zoo!

Australia Zoo today! What a fantastic day – our campsite was literally a 2 minute drive away. We first of all got to see petes favourites – the otters! They were so cute! We then headed to see the Giant Tortoise show! I liked them so much i decided to book an encounter with them for the afternoon. We then watched a bit of the elephant feeding before heading to the crocoseum for the big show! We lots of different parrots and colourful birds swooping around the stadium. We then saw some big snakes – was amazing seeing one of the massive ones...

Aug 16, 2011 - Hot Showers!

Ooo it was a struggle to get up this morning! Once we were up we went to say goodbye to graham and linda – exchanged emails and got some photos taken together on the beach! We then took a trip round to tincan bay which was gorgeous – we were hoping to see the dolphins but we were a bit late – however we did get a bacon and egg muffin! We then went back to rainbow beach to pick up the chairs as we decided to move on. We decided to treat ourselves and stay in a caravan park so we could charge things up – especially the video camera for our...

May 28, 2011 - Aus - Day 25- Friendly Australians

Woke up to sun shining but clouds were starting to come in. We decided that "Lenny" needed a bit of TLC so I washed all the window frames and scrubbed down the seat benches while Jason fixed all the squeaks in the front that seem to be surrounding him as he drives. We have met a nice Australian couple here at the park. They just celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary - Mary & Kevin. They have been touring Australia in their caravan for three years now. Prior to that they were out at sea on their 50ft yacht sailing the Australian and...

May 27, 2011 - Aus - Day 24- Biting Kangaroo at Steve Erwin Zoo

Woke up to a beautiful morning and went to the Australia Zoo owned by none other than Steve and Terri Irwin (the crocodile hunter). Established in 1970 by the Irwin family, formally known as the Beerwah Reptile Park, the once four acre park is now a 70 acre entertainment mecca, with over 1,000 animals. We saw Asian Elephants and even got to hand feed all three of them. That was a dream come true for me since I love them so much, Jason seemed very happy to let one of them slime his entire hand as he feed her. Love their long eyelashes and...

Oct 14, 2010 - Steve Irwin Zoo (Australia Zoo)

We drove to Australia Zoo which is famous as it is Steve Irwin the Crocodile hunter's zoo and animal rescue centre. Which is approximately about 1 hours drive from Brisbane, before we got near the zoo there were loads of huge signs with Steve Irwin's face on and the road to the zoo was even called the Steve Irwin highway. Before we entered the zoo we saw our first big reptile a water dragon sunning itself on the grass near the entrance gave us a bit of fright ha ha. We had a great time walking round zoo looking at the Aussie animals they...

Jun 9, 2009 - Glasshouse Mountains

Tuesday 9th June 2009 Yet another splendid day – but sadly we have to leave and head off towards Brisbane, but first we stop at the famous Australia Zoo – once home to the deceased Steve Irwin – yes that guy who wrestled Crocs and got impailed by a Ray’s tail. The Zoo is good – not exceptional – but good and we managed to see some of the native Australian creatures we have missed so far. Wednesday 10th June 2009 Today, on our route down to Brisbane we plan to visit the stunning Glasshouse Mountains – and these are a bit like the Olgas –...

Nov 6, 2008 - Australia Zoo

Stayed overnight in a free campsite and headed off to Australia Zoo a few km down the road. Pretty hot day. Good to see that the park has really milked everything it can for anything touristy and related to Mr Crikey! himself. The constant playing of Bindi singing throughout the park's tannoy system was slightly tedious (from about 10 minutes of being inside) Got to visit the Crocoseum, as well as a see a few things not yet seen... like Koalas! haha Did get to see some Tasmanian Devils as well as a few snakes that luckily have not come...

Jul 24, 2008 - Beewah - Australian Zoo of Steve Irwin

Anja goes Down Under

May 20, 2008 - Crikey!

Gorgeous sunny/warm day again! Angie and Richard came over to Cheryl and Brians in the morning and we all headed off out in the car but this time to Australia Zoo. It’s a pretty big place as it is, but their in the process of extending the site even more. The road to the zoo is actually called 'Steve Irwin Way', weird! Spent the day wandering around the zoo, seeing the various animals. Its very much conservation based, and all the animals look content and clean with plenty of room unlike some zoos which is great. The Kangaroos were basking...

Mar 26, 2008 - Australia Zoo - The Crocodile Hunter

Steve Irwin...
