Yesterday the weather fined up and today it is going to be about 25oC. Alan and Rosie called for us at 8.30 am to take us to Ormiston Gorge. The scenery on the way is anything but flat and we stopped at a lookout where the view was magnificent. Ormiston Gorge is about 180 Klms from Alice Springs. We climbed up the Gorge to a high pinnacle. The views from there are amazing. Some of the track is on the side of very steep hills and you have to be careful not to suffer vertigo. Aug 4, 2009 - Ormiston Gorge and Ellery Creek Bighole

Ormiston Gorge is about 135 km west of Alice Springs so we made this a whole day trip. Again spectacular country in the West MacDonnell Ranges. There was still a large pool of water here despite this being the dry period and still a lot of fish in the water. The local dingo walked past while we were there – no doubt to see if there were any titbits available from tourists like us.
