Max had to do one last T.A job for Leigh  who was replacing ceiling fans then we were right to go. All packed up and ready to hit the road! We're really grateful to Leigh and Sarah for allowing us to stay in their backyard for 3 months! And for also dealing with Dylan and his infection/broken foot while I was home in Vic.  Heading out of Darwin on the Stuart the countryside has really changed with the bits of rain they've had. Sep 13, 2011 - Day 9 Camooweal to Elliot

Poor Mick had another feverish night. He was banished to a mattresss on the floor, while the kids and I shared the germ free bed.  We wanted to get on the road early to drive as far as we could into NT today - central west Queensland is a lot of distance full of not much! After 4 hours, we were at the 3 ways turn off to the Stuart Highway (Tennant Creek). Aug 11, 2011 - Longreach Waterhole (11 - 13 Aug)

Thursday 11 to Sat 13 August : Longreach WOW...this morning we clocked over 11,000k on our trip....what a milestone that is.... With a 6am start from Katherine and at last we are seeing Wallabies...has been a definate lack of these on the trip which is surprising... Breaky at Matoranka then off to find Longreach Waterhole....We heard about it...we had directions....yet do you think we could find it !! In the end we got directions from a resident in Elliott - 1k along the track... To reach Longreach you have to travel 12k down a sandy/dirt...

Aug 3, 2008 - Day 41 - Katherine to Elliott

Vital Statistics Distance : 445 KM Diesel Price Katherine: $1.86 – The best yet on the holiday! Fuel Economy : 12.8 ltr / 100 We rose early for the first of a 3 day driving stint to get to Mt Isa.
