May 28, 2014 - The Captain and his Sailors...
I cannot believe how time had passed and the day has finally arrived! Yes, I have packed my bags and am so excited to board that flight tomorrow. I don’t know how I am going to sleep tonight. In this last entry before departure, I introduce the man (and his wife) who has made all this possible for us. Lal has been playing in the Sydney Tamils Masters (STM) competition as part of Canberra Masters team from its inception and is fun to be around. Don't be put off by his...Jump to full entry
May 7, 2014 - 22 sleeps to go...
Three more weeks, or 22 sleeps to be more precise, before I will board an Air Asia flight to Kuala Lumpur on my way to Sri Lanka, the country I was born, to join a group of cricket-mad friends and travel around the island and play a few games of cricket against teams made up of old students of our alma maters. It is almost 30 years since I last visited my home town, Point Pedro, at the northern tip of Sri Lanka. In October, 1984, I was in Colombo for a few days, but did not have the opportunity venture out anywhere else. So, when Shiva sent...Jump to full entry
