Apr 13, 2013 - Sydney and more
We left our camping spot 20kmsnorth of Cooma around 10am after chatting with a couple from Cottesloe on their way to a wedding in Sydney. Managed some 550kms skirting Sydney along the m7 toll road and then through Pennant Hills suburbia before hitting the main drag towards Newcastle. We stopped twice at truck weighing stations as our gig is over 8 tonnes for compulsory stop. The second one gave us the data with the total rig weighing 9.3 tonnes, my 3 litre Iveco does well.

Feb 14, 2013 - Newcastle / Hunter Valley
This morning was sunny and beautiful on Aus Valentines Day! We walked along the beaches and out onto the causeway. It was so nice, we decided to hang out on the beach all morning! It was the nicest beach day we've had so far and enjoyed swimming in the massive waves crashing into shore. After falling asleep on Clint's stomach and leaving him a great tan-line of my head (refer to pic), we headed off to find Clint a haircut! We found a local girl who was able to fit him in right away. They had a pretty good conversation, giving Clint some...

Dec 30, 2012 - Newcastle

Nov 2, 2012 - Newcastle NSW
Arrived in industrial Newcastle on the coast – my first impression … too many buildings, too much traffic, road lanes very narrow but nobody wound down their window and called me a 'DICKHEAD' this time (getting used to it!!) so must've been towing the van OK (see notes for Yeppoon!!) The first night in a park near (guess what) the largest saltwater inland lake in Oz, helpful friendly oldies with lots of tips. Frank, the neighbour irreverently tells me it’s the site where the hells angels like to hang out (meaning the park tenants and their...

Nov 23, 2011 - Oz taking us by storm- Newcastle and the Blue Mountains
Blog 21: Oz taking us by storm Newcastle (nothing like the England version) We left Byron bay the same day as the skydive after going to a market. the market happens once a month so it was fortunate that we were there to witness the hippy culture lifestyle! There were a few cults wandering around banging bells and chanting, there were lots of stalls selling homemade goods, drug accessories and tie die clothing! We left after Liam bought a bargain of a surfboard for just $100 and drove 700km all the way to Newcastle! It turns out...

Oct 17, 2011 - Unclogging A Toilet In your house
You will find really a several procedures to Unclogging A Toilet by yourself. Dependent for the style of toilet you've, some could get clogged extra often than other folks. That is especially the situation with the new bathrooms that conserve water. The opening on the plumbing is smaller sized, as a result they have a tendency to clog much easier and will require regular routine maintenance. It may be a uncomplicated issue of working with a plunger. But additional complex clogs will require a specialist plumber. You will find a number of...

We went to Cessnock and the weather was crap but stayed for three days hoping it would pick up, but it didn’t. As we have a little time we went to Stockton just on the other side of the harbour to Newcastle, this was also right on the beach. The following day we walked down to the jetty and caught the ferry across to Newcastle and had a walk around. We went to the visitors Centre and they suggested a few sites to see, one was Fort Scratchley up on the hill at the point. We walked up and around the park and had a look at the fort, this was...

Feb 18, 2011 - Newcastle / Stockton
16th February, Today we are heading for Newcastle some 60 klms from Cessnock, we arrived at Stockton Tourist Park at lunchtime, it is a very good park right on the ocean, it has some of the best amenities we have come across. We have booked in for three nights. After lunch we decided to go for a walk along the beach and out to the sea wall, which was quite a ways for Wayne and I, there have been several ships wrecked on this part of the coast, a few have been buried into the wall of the sea wall. There are also a lot of memorials on the...

Jan 30, 2011 - The waiting is almost over…
Two nights from now, we will be relaxing in our Sydney CBD apartment and preparing to set off on our great adventure. The last week has been really busy and has passed extremely fast. For every three jobs that crossed off the list, another two appeared - hence, this update will be very short! As if we didn’t have enough to do in a limited period, we decided to avoid a really early departure on Wednesday by going to Sydney and staying overnight on Tuesday. That has made Wednesday easier, but has further increased the pressure on the jobs to...

Jan 24, 2011 - Prepare! Pack! Paddle!
22 JAN 2011 Just a little over a week to go and everything is starting to snowball – which, considering where we are going, is probably an appropriate metaphor. We have been very busy getting the house ready for our absence and our friend’s occupation, making last-minute arrangements so that we don’t have a mountain of unpaid bills to come home to, taming the garden so that it doesn’t become too feral while we are away, and preparing for our travels. Preparation for the latter has focussed mainly on ensuring we don’t pack too much (baggage...

Jan 13, 2011 - Prelude
13 Jan 2011 PRELUDE Years of dreaming, twelve months of planning and now, in just under three weeks, we will set off on our most adventurous trip, to date. Over the last 40 years, Angela and I have travelled to many places and had lots of adventures - from the mundane of almost missing flights to the excitement of being bogged right next to a pride of lions in the Masai Mara. But, for the number of new, exciting, even risky experiences packed into a relatively short timeframe, our “To Antarctica and Beyond” trip is the pinnacle. As a bonus,...
