Today was our last Day at Iluka. Carol received a phone call the other night around 10:30 and you know its one of 2 things; the kids want money or there has been a disaster, this was a disaster; Carols Aunt in Taree had passed away. Hence we are moving forward tomorrow to Dawson River to attend to a few details etc. for her Funeral on Friday. After spending the morning composing a suitable eulogy we ventured around to Yamba for luncheon and a look around. Jun 30, 2013 - Iluka

29th June, We departed GI under leaden skies and it soon started to rain. “Oh hell” I think to myself, “this is going to be fun descending the Gwydir in rain and fog”. The descent itself was not to bad, steep in sections, but only 3 tight bends. When we reached Mann River the sky brightened and the temp climbed and by the time we went through Grafton the sun was shining and it was 19c. At Iluka it was hot enough for shorts.... The shorts have since become a damned Albatross around my neck; And I had done an hellish thing, And it would work...
