Dec 29, 2008 - Day 2 - Gosford / Sydney

Day 2 - saw me start nice and early to go to the Sydney Fish Market – the market itself is a sort of a mix of industrial and commercial enterprises ranging from wholesale fish dealers (complete with an auction room for early morning fish dealing) – through to supermarket-like fishmongers, to concession holders serving sushi and other seafood dishes. Personally I think it was a little early to be jumping into sushi first thing in the morning – no matter how fresh it was, but I made a mental note to make sure to go back for lunch when I next...

Jul 29, 2008 - The Planning Begins

We are very excited to have finally started planning and saving for our USA Road Trip in 2009. Our fridge must have known that we were saving for this trip as it promptly died, but after delving into the savings to buy a new fridge, we are still doing fairly well :o) We have received a few travel guides in the mail and we have almost worn the print off them they have been studies so much! My cousin Sonja has ordered a book "Road Trip USA" for us, and I am sure that will be well worn by the time September 2009 arrives! I am not sure how...

Apr 8, 2007 - Happy Easter!!!

Happy Easter Everyone!!! I hope you are all having a great time celebrating and eating yummy food and chocolate, and well....going to church and all that stuff we are "supposed" to do for Easter. It's not even about the bunnies and chocolate....but at least you have some of it. Sniff sniff. Well actually....I sneakily went out last night and bought Kori and I a few bags of chocolate and randomly hid them around the apartment for her to find this morning...so I guess I DO have chocolate. But no bunnies yet. Although....hmm....sorry Kori...I...

Phew - down to 26c and windy, bliss!! I almost feel I need to put a coat on after Queensland! I deliberatley choose March, their Autumn as thought it would be cooler - however as everywhere I have travelled they are experiencing an Indian Summer - and best and hottest weather of their summer.... 43c and 90% hummity, I think the hotest conditions I have ever experienced - talk about having your brain fried.... ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sydney - what a vibrant town - it has a similar...

Dec 28, 2006 - Day 26 - Sydney

Arrived in Sydney this afternoon and it's a pleasant 25c, a fair bit cooler than the sweltering temps in Perth which were around 37c when we left! I'm staying in a lovely B&B in the Paddington area which is south east of the city centre. It's next to the Aussie Stadium which will see the Barmy Army arriving soon for the final Ashes test (let's hope England do a bit better in that one!)

Oct 5, 2006 - Australia (Sydney - Brisbane - Sydney)

Australia (Part 1) Guess What I get off the flight and its roasting and its only 9:30 am wicked just what the doctor ordered, I know I'll be complaining in a few hours about it being too hot but I enjoy it while I can. I head over to the City for night before heading out to Coogee which is smaller than I thought. I took a walk round the coast to Bondi Beach which takes about an hour and you are harrassed by flies the whole way round, but defo worth the walk. Bondi is nothing like I expected, looked ok but just smarter than Blackpool. So...

Feb 8, 2006 - WOW..... I am at the other side of the world

Hello Everyone Just a quick note to let you know that I have made it safe and sound to Sydney. Its been a very long journey. Its amazing how quickly you learn things. So here's a tip for those future travellers 1. Don 't try and take a knife through customs and 2. Alway check with your travelling partner to confirm flights. The only reason I have time to do this little note is cause I am waiting for Sara. We were never on the same flight we just met at airports for for some food. Hope everyone is well. I am going to venture outside now. Yes...

Jan 20, 2006 - Sydney - Sim's City

20/1 Got in around 20.30 and Sim and Chris picked us up no problems. Went back to their flat in Coogee and went out for beer and pizzas. Steve drunk his beers way too quickly and at least 4 too many. 21/1 Very lucky where we're staying Chris and Sim are 2 minutes from the beach. Steve and Chris started the day with a swim, whilst Sim and Lenka stayed at home applying for Sims second visa. They joined the boys later. This is Lenka's 2nd swim of the day as she got up early. The waves are so big it's scary, they knocked you straight off your...

Tripping 2005/06

Jan 8, 2006 - Sydney

We docked in the Rocks Harbour at 5 am and awoke at 5:30 with the Sydney Opera House in our window. We disembarked with no fuss, no security checks, no dog sniffing for fruit, no customs.... We were quite stunned. We were at our hotel at 7:30 in the morning and with check in at 12:00 we were left to explore the city. They kindly stored our bags, thank goodness and we were out on a Jim Baker Walkabout - through the Circular Quay, the Opera House,(all 6 inch white and cream tiles - amazing) the Botanical Gardens, Mrs. McQuaries Chair, out...

Nov 25, 2005 - Back in Sydney

The circle is complete, I'm back in Sydney, again at Eva's Backpackers, even in the same room as when I arrived. Feels good, a bit like coming home, and very strange at the same time, as there are none of the people I used to know. Also the hostel is full of germans, oh god I miss speaking english aready. I have one week left and I'm not looking forward to leaving, don't want to go home to the cold... But I have a delay of about a week as I'll do a stopover in Thailand, visiting Seb in Koh Samui. So I'll go, enjoy the city and the sunshine...
