Feb 26, 2006 - Sydney here we come!

G'day from Sydney - a city with so much to see and do! As we arrived, it was pouring from the heavens but that didn't stop us. We made our way to Cronulla area, south of Sydney's city centre (recently known more for its race riots...but all was safe and sound while we were there). We stayed with another friend from the Asia tour, Jill who joined us along with Kim (friend from Thailand trip) for a walk up the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Yup...all the way to the top! What spectacular views from up there! We were so lucky to have a clear day. After...

Feb 23, 2006 - Sydney

G'day, G'day. 'Owe are y goin ? ... Just back from the red centre in crowded Sydney. The trip was awesome. We arrived in Alice Springs on Thursday. Alice is a quite and laidback village. It is simple too hot to walk around during the day. Only a few Aboriginal people are sitting in the parks, on the pavements in the shade. They look lost and sad (can you imagine that you lived quitely and peacefully for 80.000 years and that 250 years ago some white people arrived, stole your land, destroyed your way of life, religion and sometimes even...

AJUUS !!!!!!!

Feb 7, 2006 - Collala Beach

Yesterday we woke up at 5am to drive with Hoey 2 hours south to his family's Summer home in progress at Collala Beach. The drive itself was magnificent, watching the sun come up over the ocean while taking in miles of brilliant Australian coast. When we got there we walked along the beach with the rest of his clan who were spending the day there as well. The sand is some of the whitest in the world (they claim) and is so fine that it squeaks underfoot. The water was warm and I saw wild dolphins for the first time. While Hoey worked at...

Jan 1, 2006 - Sydney

Happy New Year everyone! Hope you all had good holidays. Our Christmas was very strange, but nice. The Christmas Eve party at our hotel was good for a few laughs as the staff tried in somewhat broken English to get all the Swedes (we were practically the only non-Scandanavians!) to play games and a band played elevator music. We did participate in the "Who can drink the beer the fastest" contest but we were beat out by, of course, a German and one of the many Swedes. Free beer, though, so we weren't complaining! Christmas day was sunny and...

Dec 27, 2005 - Sydney John & Dean's Hols - Dec27th - January 12th

On the days that followed and in the build up to Pauls birthday and New Years Eve I went to work for a finance company doing admin work - oh the excitement mounts - and Paul got to have his holiday time with his boys (sorry Dean & John but you are officially now and forever his boys after managing to come and visit us on the other side of the world for Xmas). After exploring the tourist sights of Sydney, which basically meant they drank all day in a pub which had a good view of the Opera House we all went out for drinks and dinner in...

Dec 25, 2005 - JOYEUX NOEL !!!

Noel a Sydney !

Nov 30, 2005 - Feelin' crappy.

Well I haven't been very well today. Spent most of the day in bed. Started with a really sore throat yesterday, and woke up this morning with a really really bad throat, and a bunged up head. After waking up really early again...I managed to snooze again and woke up with a voice resembling Marge Simpson! Sore throat wasn't the biggest part of the problem though, just felt like crap! But seem better now, had about 4 strepsils and some anti bunged up head tablets and am now vastly improved. After I had a shower my voice even went back to...

Nov 1, 2005 - The race that stops the nation

A successful day of shopping in central Sydney and of dashed hopes in the Melbourne Cup. Danny finally bought some new sandals after what seemed like months of nagging. The smelly sandals were binned in the shop and he walked home in his new shoes past all the smartly dressed revellers who had started pouring out of the pubs after a boozy afternoon celebrating the Melbourne Cup. We had a flutter on the big race ourselves but despite our horses leading the pace for most of the race they were pipped to the post by Makybe Diva. This race is...

Oct 11, 2005 - Australia

Well the 12 hour flight from Joburg to Sydney really has caught up with me today so I am just slowly adjusting to time changes and temperature changes. It is very mild during the day and cool, windy evenings but no complaints here. I am basking in the comfort of a bed with linen and hot showers. Life is good with such simple pleasures. My next treat will be full-meal salads!!! The adventures have shifted to the Pacific. Photos to follow.

Sep 12, 2005 - First day in Sydney

Dear all, I finally arrived in Sydney early this morning (5AM...). I am so happy to be here! I thought I would never make it coz my first flight in Paris was canceled... I managed to change my ticket without any problems. I had a very quiet (but very long) flight. I stopped in Singapore for a couple of hours. It was only 29 degrees celcius but it felt like 50. The customs in Australia here are nearly as bad as the ones in the US, it nearly took me an hour and an half to go through. Anyway after I got my passport stamped I came straight to...

Jun 11, 2005 - Back in Sydney!

Well, due to awkward connecting flights it took about 18 hours to get from Bangkok to Sydney, but I have arrived home. Sydney is overcast, with rain and about 16C... it's just about the beginning of winter... quite a change from Bangkok yesterday where it was mid-30s. I developed a cough on Thursday; whether it's due to a virus or just too much cigarette smoke in too many bars this week, I don't know. It's good to be home... I look forward to catching up with many friends this week.
