Jan 13, 2007 - Back to OZ

Well we are on our way to Oz. Yippee. Mum is starting to get a silly grin on her face that won't seem to go away. We got the shuttle early so we would be at the airport about three hours early. We learnt the lesson of arriving only when 'you must'. We headed towards the counter and were surprised yet again by how people still look in shock when told they can't take things through a certain way. Seriously, it's not something new and has been on the TV for months and is plastered all over airports. Some are just thick. Thank heck they weren't...

Homeless Jobless Bum

Dec 30, 2006 - Sydney

G'day mates, we made it to Auz finally! Really strange though, we took off from Hawaii this morning (Friday) and 10hrs later I am writing this in Sydney on a Saturday night! A whole day gone, just like that! Mind you we nearly didn't make it into the country! We got stopped by customs for carrying a weapon into the country! James had bought a knuckle duster in Hawaii, (coz he could basically!). Anyway we didnt think owt else of it till we were stopped by security and his bag went through the scanner twice! We were racking our brains trying...

Nov 7, 2006 - Sydney, back home

Pamela and the children flew home on 1st November, on Wednesday night. Jen picked us up and delivered us to Granny's. We got there about 11pm. Benny was already fast asleep in the car. The next day we went home to Curl Curl. The house was very bare and strangely smaller than I remembered it. The children couldnt wait to get back to school to see their friends. We had a little problem waking up in the morning though, as Singapore is 3 hours behind us. By Friday they were off. On Monday Benny started back at kindy. The weather is cold and...

Oct 11, 2006 - Reflections on Melbourne

Reflections Reflecting on my first part of my visit to Australia, I have to say Melbourne is just wonderful, full of ordinary down to earth people, in a city full of life, feeling, its clean modern and bright, and so easy to get around. Our first impression from the grumpy taxi driver on arrival, then mixed feelings on the cottage have now all gone, as I have learnt what a great place this is, the exchange rate at the moment means we brits find things really cheap here, but setting that to one side, the city and the people are wonderful,...

Sep 26, 2006 - Sydney & Bondi, Australia

Sydney was sadly to be our penultimate stop in Australia and as far south as we were going. We were particularly looking forward to getting there however, as some friends (Sophie & Mark) from home had a spare room in a flat in Bondi, and had very kindly offered to put us up during our stay in Sydney. Sophie and Mark's flat is a newly built open plan flat on Bondi Road just up from the beach. It was a lovely flat in a really great location, literally a five minute walk from Bondi beach. Bondi is great because aside from the beach there is...

May 22, 2006 - SYDNEY: Final Days

ADELE: We had just over 3 crazy weeks between finishing work and flying out for Vietnam. There was plenty to do - trips to Walla & Noosa; packing up the house; organising tickets, visas & money; and of course, saying goodbye to everyone. I also had my graduation ceremony on 9 May. Finally finshed my Master's degree - a Master of Arts (Communication Management) from the University of Technology (Sydney). It was a nice closing chapter before we head overseas. It was also good to see some familar faces from class - we are all relived it is...

May 17, 2006 - Sydney, Blue Mountains (Katoomba, Bell), Canberra, Melbourne

Sydney began as a bit of a blur for us as we hit the town on our night of arrival in full force! The meeting of old friends (Jodi, Richard, Chris, Jemma & Edward) as new and exciting company to the gruesome twosome was too much for us to bear, and we succumbed to the famous nightlife of Sydney. To put it in perspective: the next morning, we were having to fill in various pieces of the evening for each other, say no more! Anyway, our time in Sydney was amazing (first time round). We went out to a great bar called Lord Dudley in Paddington....

May 6, 2006 - SYDNEY: Farewell Drinks

ADELE: Thanks to the Citibank guys (well, gals and Colin) for coming along to drinks. Georgia, Lem, Fiona, Karen, Soph & Colin - thanks for being great to work with over the past 18 months and whilst I won't miss going into work on a Monday mornings, I will miss working with all of you. Ruth, continue our empire of good & evil with Lem. And Kaye, you were the one to bring me to Citibank - not sure if I should thank you or ... just jokes, thanks for all the opportunities. SCOTT: Enough about the work, how about the party ... It was great to...

Apr 28, 2006 - SYDNEY: Finishing Work

SCOTT: I had a fantastic work send-off at the James Squire Bar at King Street Wharf, having some final beers with the team I have worked with for the last 5 years. We got down to the bar around 4pm and sampled the many beers that James Squire has to offer. As you can see from the photos, I had my fair share... Good luck to the Canon HR team. It has been a great pleasure working with you all. P.S. Thanks to Tim for organising my send-off. ADELE: My farewell from Citibank started with the team taking me out for lunch, followed by drinks and...

Apr 7, 2006 - Day 80 Update - Melbourne/Sydney

We woke early and checked out, we had managed to blag free parking during our whole stay in Melbourne so we decided to have one more hunt around the city to find something that would make the trip worthwhile. We ended up driving 20 mins out of the city to a place called St.Kilda as we new a good hostel there. We parked up outside and discussed what we would do for the day and enquired about any trips we could go on with the hostel, to cut a long short story shorter, there was nothing we could do so we decided the best thing was to head back...
