Sep 11, 2006 - The Road To Albury

Our time in Melbourne has come to an end, and our next destination is Canberra, the nation's capital. We broke the drive into two parts, so tonight we are halfway between Melbourne and Canberra at Albury, in the state of New South Wales. Driving out of the Melbourne city limits seemed to take almost as long as the highway portion of our drive. Unlike Perth, Melbourne is not ribboned with an efficient network of freeways. It was district after district of congested streets lined with "mom and pop" stores and markets. This experience was...

Mar 12, 2005 - Rutherglen

Back to our favoured spot at the van park in Rutherglen - unfortunately the addition of extra sites between us and the lake spoils our view sometimes. Found we have been sleeping in a bit as our relaxation kicks in. Visited the Albury Caravan/4WD/boat show, stickybeaking while riding my scooter made life easy (only wore Joy out). Very pleased only bought one new gadget - 12V impact wrench to make removing wheel nuts much less stressful - tried it out - IT WORKS! Also visited (for the first time) the Army Museum at Bandiana. Was impressed...

Dieses Land ist einfach so unglaublich riesig, andererseits hab ich ja auch noch 9 Monate Zeit und ab naechster Woche...

Nov 28, 2004 - Rutherglen

We like it here. Small (only) park on a lake. Good grassy sites, no noise. Visited Browns, St Leonards & All Saints just to see what is happening. Picked up a bottle or two for Xmas. Like it enough we stayed longer than planned. Interesting collection of ducks. Mostly wild but a few looking rather domestic. Fascinating feeding them at the lake, throw bread and around 50+ ducks gather. Notice a lot (100+) of odd pointy black things also gather. When water is still, we can see that they are the beaks of long neck tortoises just putting...
