Nov 18, 2017 - Byron Bay

Thursday and Friday were pretty much travelling days. Seemed to spend ages in Bonnie but the scenery was good and the weather not brilliant so it was fine. South West Rocks was recommended to us as a nice place to visit but we arrived too late to do very much. However we did buy some fresh prawns and fish from Nelson's Bay and had a really nice fishy BBQ. Had a wander around in the morning and did some shopping for essentials before hitting the road again. We arrived in Byron Bay late on Friday evening with the intention of having a no...

Oct 12, 2017 - No sky dive today

Today was a full free day in Byron Bay. A bunch of us scheduled a skydiving trip for this morning. It was raining so we were all a bit hesitant. We had Blake call to confirm it wasn't cancelled svc we waited by the pick up spot. We waited an hour past the pickup time, and decided to give up and go back to the resort. By this time I'm getting a bit hungry so I walked into town and found the first place that seemed edible. A burrito joint. Once I ordered I get a text asking if I wanted to join some other girls for lunch, so I grabbed my...

Oct 11, 2017 - Tonight we dance!

Staying in a little resort type community. Small little houses... some without a kitchen or bathroom. We checked in, and dropped our bags off. Our place has 2 bedrooms. One with a queen size bed and one with 2 twin. There was also one bed in the living room, which I grabbed because it was the only room in the place with a.c.! Taking Blake's recommendations, a few of us took off in search of food. The decided on Earth n Sea pizza. Absolutely delicous! After dinner we went to meet up with everyone else at a place called Woody's. It's a local...

Jul 7, 2017 - Byron Bay

We arrived at Byron Bay following a 3 hour Greyhound bus journey from Gold Coast. We had high expectations of Byron given all the good reviews we had heard and because of the Inbetweeners! However it's fair to say our arrival was a bit of an anticlimax. Our hostel was right by the beach but it got off to a bad start when they said they charged for WiFi which is a first in all the places we have visited on our travels including some of the poorest countries in the world! The town itself wasn't particularly to our liking and neither were the...

There is a small balcony and a large bedroom and bathroom. 244km today. Mon 21st Mar - walked down to seafront and along the road to Pass Beach. Lots of people surfing and swimming. Walked back along...

Nov 11, 2015 - Byron Bay area

After whizzing through Surfers'Paradise we are now down at Broken Head campsite just beyond Byron Bay. The whole area is stunningly beautiful. Even Theo said wow as we walked through the bush onto a beach. The beaches are pure white and the interior is rainforest and hills. Our campsite is idyllic as we can see the sea and walk straight onto the beach. We are having a day off driving tomorrow to make the most of it. Phill is on the barbie so had better go!

Our Year Out

Nov 11, 2015 - Campervan special

This is our home for two weeks. It is pretty large as they couldn't find the 4berth we ordered so we have a 6 berth! So far so good although we did get wet feet on the first night in a storm. Phill got it fixed pretty fast! The driver is great and parks it in some tight spots! Happy camping. Xx

Our Year Out

Feb 24, 2014 - Byron Bay Trip

My Byron Bay trip started out a little bumpy. Literally. Apparently the cross winds at the Gold Coast airport are very strong which made the last 5 minutes of the plane ride feel like a see-saw. I may or may not have grabbed the arm of the lady next to me. Besides the scary landing, the weather when I landed was awesome. As soon as we put our stuff away at the hostel, we took a walking tour of Byron and went to the light house and most easternly point of Australia. The views along the walk were some of the best views I have ever seen,...

Feb 28, 2013 - Byron Bay

Another favourite spot for us; a cool and hippy seaside town. First day was spent catching the rays on the beach which I definitely did as my back after two hours in the sun was burnt red raw! The second day there we had a hilarious day out to a tiny town called Nimbin, an hours drive away. This place started up as a hippy festival in the 1960s that has yet to finish- tie dye galore and hippies smoking a bit more than just tabacco, a very weird but funny experience.

Feb 18, 2013 - Byron Bay

Clint had some extra watermelon left over from his breakfast, so he decided to feed the turkey like bird outside our room. Pretty soon we had 5 of them and 2 lizards fighting over the food! One of the lizards and turkeys were going at it pretty good.. It got fairly intense at one point! It was a cloud covered morning, but still quite warm, so we made our way to the beach again! We hung out here for the morning. Clint tried boogie boarding again, but the current was quite strong and the wind picked up, so we headed on our way to the Gold...

Engagement honeymoon

Feb 17, 2013 - Byron Bay

Holy, this one took a while. We've been slacking on these. Today was the day that Kara found a big market, that was a 'dont miss' type of market. It was even in our lonely planet book so we decided to venture out to Nimbin to take it in. We drove for just over an hour and arrived at this old hippie town. And I mean hippie like I've never seen. We arrived in Nimbin around 10 a.m. and it was basically a ghost town, a few people out having coffee and a few window shopping all the drug paraphernalia. I told Kara that it was so empty because...

Engagement honeymoon

Feb 3, 2013 - Byron Bay - Awesome Hippy Land!!

We were really excited to be in Byron Bay. When we arrived, we followed the instructions to the hostel that the reception had given us, except somehow once again we got very lost. Luckily we bumped into two girls we knew from Fraser Island and they took us to our hostel ‘Nomads’. It was a really lovely hostel more like a hotel with balconies, clean and very modern. When we checked in it was around 10pm so we just decided to stay in and Skype Mum and Dad and our cousin Kat, whose bump is now huge, really amazing she is 34 weeks now! We woke...
