Aug 31, 2012 - Bateman's Bay

Not too impressed with Bateman’s Bay. First of all, the Information Centre was closed when we went there – found out later it doesn’t open until 11am. And they didn’t have any free maps like every other Information Centre carries. The only ones they had were for sale. The caravan park didn’t like booking vans over 20ft but didn’t ban it like some of the other parks I’ve tried to book in to. We were allowed to choose our site but it was one of the tightest squeezes yet. A lot of the streets around the shopping centre are very narrow but the...

Mar 12, 2012 - In the bush, no mistake!!

We had a little bit of a drive from Merimbula up to Batemans Bay, we planned to stay originally in another of the BIG4 campsite but on the way we stopped at one of the info sites in Batemans Bay and they recomended staying in a conservation camp called depot beach. It had hot showers so we thoght why not. We got there eventually along a long and winding road and it was really beautiful right by the beach so you could actually hear the rollers. Thats if you could get past the noise of all the parrots, therte were loads of them all colours...

Mar 12, 2012 - Days 5 - 6 UPDATE NOTES

Hi All, Well another trip has commenced. A bit late in departure due to a delay in the arrival of one of our travelling companions caravan but after several false starts and 2 weeks waiting in a local caravan park we set off. Our travelling companions are Ros and Trevor from Brisbane who we met 2 years ago when we went around Australia and Barry and Lois a long time friend and ex work collegue from home. It was his van that was delayed. Ros and Trev had already left and we were to catch them up when the van arrived. Our original plan was to...

Jan 2, 2011 - Batemans Bay

We arrived and set up in Batemans Bay on the 21st of December for 12 nights, we decided that we would not travel too much and just relax for the two weeks. We drove down to Moruya and had the car serviced and also saw a lot of tree carvings around the town, Batemans Bay does not have any beaches as we know as swimming beaches. We have been out looking at some of the outskirt towns which have been nice, but still not a good location in our opinion, Batemans Bay increases from 18,000 to about 120,000 in the Xmas holidays. These all come from...

We arrived at the caravan park at just after 10am, the park is 9 klms out of Bateman’s Bay it is called Sunhaven there are mainly units with only a few camp and caravan sites, the park itself is very clean and neat, but hardly worth four stars. 22nd December. We did some shopping, I iced the Christmas cake and generally started to get ready for Christmas, Wayne put up the decorations, lights and tinsel on the awning, must admit it...

Dec 21, 2010 - Batemans Bay

We left Bendigo Tuesday and stopped at a overnight stop out from Wangaratta, but was not nice so we decided to go to Wangaratta for 2 nights. The next day we went out to Paradise Falls in the King Valley which took a long time as the three navigators in the car all missed the signs, on the way back we went to Milawa. Milawa has a cheese factory and olive tastings and of course the Brown Brothers Winery. ( MMMMMMMMMM ) Thursday we set of and ended up in this little town called Holbrook, they have a lot of work going on constructing a new...

Mar 28, 2009 - The Moruya Markets and then to Mogo

We had breakfast at the bakery/cafe and then drove to Moruya for their Saturday markets. They were a typical country markets...not too much but enough to wander and look. We then went to the bookshop and I chatted to the owner about her shop and the layout....very impressive. We then wandered the streets to find somewhere for lunch. We bought some mince from the butcher as now that Rhiannon is eight she now has to cook one meal a week...so spaghetti bolognaise it is...her choice!!! The kids were not really hungry and they were being...

Mar 27, 2009 - Rhiannon Grace Feely turns Eight!!!!

Sara was the first awake and she was so excited that she woke Rhiannon. Liam used static electircity to stick the balloons to the ceiling of the caravan. He was thrilled to be the main organiser of Rhiannon's day. After Rhiannon received her gifts I made pancakes for breakfast ...using my pikelet recipe (sorry can't post any to you girls for tennis!!) and then took Liam and Miranda to pick up the birthday cake. The bakery unfortunately sent Rhiannon's cake to another town so had to get it and then drop it back to the cp for us. When we got...

Mar 26, 2009 - Back to NSW....Bateman Bay

We woke and left in record time ...we were on the road at 9.15am. We drove waiting for the steep decline that we were forewarned about and when we finally came to it I put the car into second gear and pressed the brake as little as possible and before we knew we were past the horror time!!!! Later we were informed of another WA couple who had to wait by the side of the road as they overheated their brakes. I am pleased that I did not do that!!! We drove to one caravan park, in Bateman's Bay,that Miranda loved as it had Mushroom watersprays...

Jan 20, 2009 - A Hop And A Skippy Back To Sydney

The last day of our drive along the Sapphire Coast from Melbourne to Sydney. As we left Batemans Bay, we head down a 5 mile long dirt track to Pebbly Beach on the premise that you could see Kangaroos on the beach – we were not disappointed as we reached the beach area, a male kangaroo hopped by and we soon saw a mother and joey as well. Pebbly Beach also happen to be a picturesque spot in its own right and we could have stayed all day – but a long drive on to Sydney lay ahead. Now I am a great believer that when something is renewed it...
