Feb 14, 2013 - San Sebastian

2/14/2013 On the road again. Tonight we head back to San Sebastian, this time we will stay on the Chile side so we will have completed all of our paperwork leaving Argentina and entering Chile leaving us an easy day to drive to Punta Areanas, Chile tomorrow. There is a nice restaurant here where we dry camped so it was a great time for everyone to have a Valentine dinner. We got off relatively inexpensive, just 17,000 for dinner. Nothing is too good for my wife.

Feb 10, 2013 - En-route Ushuaia

2/10/2013 An early morning as we head off toward Ushuaia, the southernmost city in the world. This morning we left Argentina, entered Chile after doing paper work, drove over 80 miles of dirt, sometimes rough road, departed Chile after doing paper work, drove another 10 Kilometers then did more paperwork to re-enter Argentina at the San Sebastian crossing. A hard day with the drive and crossings. We spent the night in a large field overlooking the ocean right by the border crossing. Pavement tomorrow.

Dec 1, 2012 - Long, tough birthday

When I walked into breakfast after packing up the car, our friends sang 'Happy Birthday' and the hotel manager brought a chocolate bun with a candle in it. What a great start to the day. After three days of non driving, it was now back to reality - 663km of driving (over 200 of which that was on gravel roads - 'ripio') a ferry crossing over the straights of Magellan to Tierra del Fuego and a border crossing from Chile to Argentina. The first stretch of 'ripio' road out of the Torres del Paine national park was mostly good driving but with a...

ANNE & MIKES TRIP

Sep 10, 2006 - Much neede upddate

Well, there have been many factors contributing to my delinquency in posting updates: lack of reliable internet, lack of time, and temporary loss of camera have all factored in to what amounts to about a month without updates, that will not do. A month of rehashing is an enormous task so I have decided to post an update of memories from the past month. In order of how they come to me(not implying order of importance), here are the highlights of the last month: Floating down the icy cold and rain muddied Una river in northwestern Bosnia...

Jan 3, 2006 - Rio Grande, Argentina

Alex and I left Ushuaia this morning, in hopes of hitching a ride to Rio Gallegos, about 10 hours north. But, due to the rain which made it a bit more difficult, we made it to Rio Grande, here for the night and then hope to catch a bus to Rio Gallegos tomorrow, and on north to Comodoro Rivadavia. They said the bus was full, but hopefully someone doesnt show up! I am sending out an update soon!! But we met a YWAM team and spent the last 3-4 days with a church here in Ushuaia and had an amazing time! It was hard to say goodbye to everyone,...

Mar 12, 2005 - Bus to Rio Grande (Arg)

12th March - Up at 6am, showered and realised that my clothes were stinking however I decided to only change my top (I had a long journey ahead 12 hours) to reach the End of the World. Only 2 other people were on the bus and Asian guy and an English guy called Tim. Trip was easy, read an entire book within about 2 hours and crossed back into Argentina from Chile (more cool passport stamps). Met the bus from Puerto Arteans and a few more passengers joined. Got a ferry to cross some river which brought me back to a similar trip in Africa. Got...
