Mar 11, 2007 - El Calafate

This town is meant to be for the Argentinian rich and famous so we fitted right in. Our hostel was north of the bus station so it meant a walk up a hill and harrassment from a puppy dog. The hostel had majestic views of the area (thanks Mark and Kel). This was our first taste of dorm life and we managed to snag a dutch father and son who were obsessed with getting us to go to the lake to see the flamingos, even tho the main reason for our stop was to see the Perito Moreno Glacier. We booked ourselves into the 'Big Ice' tour. It didn't let...

Apr 3, 2006 - El Calafate and Perito Moreno glacier!

We had an interesting coach ride to El Calafate, which consisted of being subjected to hours of violent movies that we couldnt avoid watching! (Example `Saw`on a coach full of strangers in the middle of the night...nice!) Calafate itself was a bit dull but the main reason was to visit the glaciers! So we literally put all our clothes on, and shared a car with two girls we met along the way! The weather wasn`t as great as we had hoped so we didnt stay for too long, but we were lucky to see huge bits of the glacier fall off into the sea! You...

Feb 23, 2006 - Echtes Patagonien - the real Patagonia

Dec 30, 2005 - El Calafate, NYE and chocolate

Back in Argentina, good I prefer it to Chile, better food for a start and that leads us neatly onto... choclate....it was great here, Wanda and I spent some time trying out different types before I settled on dark chocolate with almonds....lovely! Commentary a bit out of sync here. I've writtne about Perito Moreno on the previous entry.. can't be bothered to sort it all out. NYE was good. Ian, Fiona, Wanda and I made a mercy dash to the chocolate shop before it closed then caught a cab to Shackleton's Bar for 6pm. Lots of information in the...
