Our flight from El Calafate in lieu of the Navimag boat through the Chilean fjords was uneventful. We touched down in Bariloche, ostensibly the capital of Patagonia and our first impressions were confused considering the beautiful landscape we had been treating ourselves to over the past few weeks. Bariloche has a great location, set on a beautiful archipielago, surrounded by snowcapped mountains, tall pine forests complete with gushing rivers, chocolate shops and alpine houses etc, it was straight out of the Sound of Music.
