Sep 22, 2005 - Buenos Aires

Sep 20, 2005 - Buenos Aires
Keith in the house! Hanging out, seeing the sites, will write more later. Think we may have to check out Plaza de Pablo while we are here-a plaza created in honor of a certain gringo from Portland, OR that chivalrously helps drunken Argentinean girls make it home safe. Apparently, the statues hair is perfect! -H Here is Paulie's piece for now. HAHAAAA..... Buenos Aires!!! Holy sh@$#t this place is huge!!! Sprawling dirty, European (mostly Spanish) architecture!!! But charm everywhere... cafes on every street corner, and everyone seeming...

Sep 15, 2005 - Buenos Aires
At three a.m. in the morning, stumbling around over fifty blocks away from my hostel with empty pockets, curling up on the street corner and passing out starts to sound like a fairly attractive option. The sensation of panic didn't come when I realized I had walked twenty blocks in the wrong direction. Nor did it come when I had to start asking people for their pocket change so I could put together some bus money. It did come, however, when I leaned over to the girl next to me to confirm that the bus was indeed going toward my neighborhood,...

Sep 7, 2005 - Arrival in Buenos Aires
After a smooth flight and a nervous jaunt through customs (I was entering 'illegally' without a return ticket)¨I quickly made my way to a hostel in San Telmo, the Tango district of Buenos Aires. Making friends in the hostel proved second-nature as solo travelers expectedly crave personal interactions. Although tired, I succumbed to peer pressure and stayed out until 3am my first night at a strictly locals-only tango bar which one of my British acquaintances heard about through a local friend. A night of live performances and a short...

Sep 4, 2005 - Buenos Aires
Natuerlich...

Sep 1, 2005 - In Buenos Aires (Again)
I have returned to Buenos Aires from the city of Salta. I enjoyed a couple of days there and hit my favorite restaurant in South America (maybe the whole wide world) while I was there. If you are ever in Salta, you have to eat at Doña Salta!!! The local specialities of empanadas, locro and tamales are out of this world. Load up on those three dishes and a little wine for lunch and you will know why the Argentines take a siesta. But, as I say, I have returned to Buenos Aires. And now for some shocking, or not so shocking, news. I am...

Sep 1, 2005 - Buenos Aires
At 11.30 am on Wednesday we got what would be yet another night bus from Puerto Iguazú to Buenos Aires. We opted for the cheapest bus that was less than half the price and still much better than in Brazil - they served food & so made less stops and showed movies in English. It was also the first bus we've been on which wasn't freezing cold - armed with lots of food and extra jumpers we were over prepared! We arrived in Buenos Aires at 6.30am on Thursday and got into the city centre via the underground - hoorah, finally a South American city...

Aug 29, 2005 - Jaahyvaiset Lattareille BsAs:ssa 7.-14.8.2005
Sita kutsun hyvaksi asiakaspalveluksi. Aika Buenos Airesissa kului kuin huomaamatta. Viikko suhahti ohitse... * Kierrellessa Recoletan hautausmaalla,...

Aug 23, 2005 - Back in Buenos Aires
Greetings once again from Buenos Aires!! I was here three months ago and not much has changed. The same faces were working the shuttle bus counter this morning when I needed to book a ride into town from the airport. I saw some of the same billboards. It was like deja'vu all over again. The big change this time is that it has been raining cats and dogs for the better part of 24 hours and there is water everywhere: In the streets, cascading down the stairs into the subway, splishing and splashing. How do you say ark in Spanish? I need to...

Aug 23, 2005 - Back in Buenos.
Quickie but we are staying in the BEST HOSTEL YET! Fantastic place called Casa Fitzroy Travellers House. Run by excentric wealthy duo for the benefit of meeting European people Anything I mentioned as a suggestion was implemented THAT DAY. Oh, how about a fridge selling cold drinks, you should be doing/have yada yada The only way it could have been better would be if they put a hot tub/sauna and a bar in...oh...they are doing that already. Nix and I want to go back to claim our free night when all the work is done, brilliant place and OUR...

Aug 23, 2005 - Pat Robertson...
I try not to get too political when writing online, but today, I cannot help it. Pat Robertson, the TV evangelical preacher and close friend of G.W. Bush, decided to announce ON TV that if the United States didn't already have plans to kill Hugo Chavez (Venezuela's president, a close friend of Mr. Castro) that, well, we should just go ahead and do it!!! Excuse me!? Since when is it "Christian" to call for or even condone assassination?!?!? What could this man have been thinking? His moral values aside, did Mr. Robertson ever stop to...

Aug 18, 2005 - Buenos Aires, Argentina
I was pleasantly auprised about how beautiful a lot of Argentina is. I was told by an educated old Argentinian lady that it was once the 6th most powerful nation with a 90%literacy. That has since dropped off to %50. Everything is rediculously cheap in Argentina. A ride on the Subway will cost 13p to anywhere and a cinema ticket (providing you can find a film in english) is a bargain night out at 1 pound 20. Anyway we saw 'Ciudad del Pecado'or 'sin city' which is a very strange film as im sure anyone who has seen it will agree. The...
