Excursion to a relatively untouched petrified forest belonging to the Bustamante establishment. In the afternoon Paul and I went bike riding. The ripio roads were painful !.....but again scenery and environment all to ourselves. Graham and Anita went for another ' tern' on the boat. Mar 10, 2013 - Bustamante Day 1

Two excursions for the day. 1. 4x4 to Peninsula where we discovered 8,000yr old middens + old whale bones + sea lion bones + fossilized giant oysters 25miil yrs old + more petrified wood and lots of conglomerates. 2. After 3 course lunch… del freshly baked gluten free bread included we headed off in a 4 x4 to a boat . We then went out to the islands which are teaming with wildlife.: 20% of the sea lions of the gulf breed in Bahia Bustamante (about 3500 individuals). Mar 9, 2013 - Drive to Bustamante

Comfortable new van, driver (Freddie) and enthusiastic English speaking guide (Sebastian) for the day…very entertaining. He sang and played the Harmonica as well as being knowledgeable about everything! We spent a few hours walking through the Petrified Woods of Sarmiento where the geos had a field day. 10 hrs driving from one side of Argentina to the Atlantic coast. We passed hundreds of oil wells. Arrived at this idyllic, isolated location which is now an estancia as well as a nature reserve. Basic hut but delicious food and exciting...
