After a few days getting settled in our apartment in BA, and exploring the city, our new friend Marta invited us to go to the beach with her. So, off we went on Monday. Marta drove to Mar del Plata; about 4.5 hours southeast from BA, on the Atlantic coast. One of Marta´s friends was gracious and extended to us the use of her apartment in the downtown. Nice clean city with large beaches and access to many others north & south along the coast. Nov 1, 2009 - Mar del Plata - the freezing beach resort...
Today we are making our way to the beach resort of Mar del Plata. We felt like we can do with a relaxing mini beach holiday as we haven’t actually had one so far in this trip. The only beaches we have been are the ones in West coast US and Lima - all have been too cold and too dirty for a swim. Lonely Planet makes this place sound reasonably attractive … Founded in 1874, this most popular of Argentine beach destinations is 400km south of Buenos Aires. Feb 10, 2009 - Mar del Plata
Went to Mar del Plata with Graham for a couple of days. We arrived and saw the beaches and wasn´t too impressed. We met a Bolivian fella, Faryo and Gonzalo from Buenos Aires. They took us around the town and we had a great time getting drunk. They new the bar tender so we got cheap drinks and they got as many chicks as they could to dance with the gringos. Very funny. We went to bed at about 5am but unfortunately once we got our marbles together we realised that Graham had had his camera stolen along with a couple of other small things....Jump to full entry
