Labuan Island was the stepping stone we were using to get from Sabah to Brunei. It is said to be a duty free shopping haven with plenty of bars and restaurants at considerably lower prices than other places we had been to so far in SE Asia so we decided to stay overnight here. As promised, the beer was cheap and we purchased a small amount of duty free to take to Brunei, but as it turns out, there is little else to keep a person here, so we were pretty keen to get going.
