The only way down that winding mountain path from Mcleod Ganj to Delhi was the 12 hour night bus. It was probably a good thing in the end that it was so pitch black that we couldn't see the bus narrowly miss the crumbling cliff edges to avoid oncoming cars. We sure felt it though and I think we spent more time in the air than on our seats. We travelled Monk Class (ie. Chris and I and 10 praying monks - we didn't ask why they were praying). They didn't speak English but were quite good at charades and their favourite one was roughly translated as "Are you feeling car sick? Yep I want to hurl too".

At some ungodly hour we arrived in Delhi, our favourite city. This time we followed our friends to the Tibetan quarter which seemed to be quite a little haven by the Yamuna river north of the city bustle (well it was dark and most people were asleep).

The prime waterfront location did however mean lots of mosquitos. At dinner the following night on a rooftop restaurant we were suddenly swarmed by the little biters. They particularly liked to circle around Chris's hair which grows bigger by the day (we're waiting for gravity to kick in!). It's nice to finally find someone who detracts mozzies from me! The waiter saved us with a strong scented mosquito coil. He also told us we probably shouldn't wave at the guy who was cheerily waving below. We didn't realise but apparently the courtyard we were overlooking was the local prison and that guy was totally mad.

We discovered that the trains were all booked up to our next destination Pushkar so we would have to stay yet another night in Delhi. Excellent. Might have to find somewhere else for dinner tomorrow.
