Pigs on the rooves and at the beach

Baracoa - The first settlement of Spanish. For some reason several people had highly recommended this place. ?? Yes it is beside the sea but it is rather charmless and dirty. We did find a beautiful secluded beach 20kms down the road that even though secluded when we got there, filled up with tourists rapidly. It seems the lonely planet recommendations means nothing is your own in Cuba.

We did strike it lucky with our casa though. We had the highest room in the near vicinity and a roof terrace to boot. We saw all the neighbours feed their pigs (which are kept in styes on the rooves) as the sun goes down. We also saw one pig escape his sty only to realise he was on the roof and couldn't get down. Poor pig.

We also finally encountered numerous power blackouts which made the fridge in our room stink like fish. We notified the owner but he didn't seem concerned with removing the frozen (or defrosting) fish from the freezer. Oh well.

after a relaxing 3 nights it's back into Ron to start the return journey.
