| Gott in Himmel! We are staying at the Dresden Hilton in the shadow of the Frauenkirche. http://www.hilton.de/dresden We checked in and went straight to the concierge for supper suggestions (empfalen). He highly recommended the Wettiner Keller if we were interested in Sachsisher fare. Well, we were. We started with a cheese, cream, puff pastry stuffed with cream cheese, soup. A little sparkling wine to clear the palette. Then, seared breast of duck with creamed cabbage with walnuts and noodles in red wine sauce with a nice red wine to drink. Then a cream torte with schnapps to finish. Not bad, not bad at all. We staggered back to our room at the Hilton and wallowed in excess in what we imagined to be well-earned Teutonic decadence. I showered in the bath, as large as the bedroom itself, wiggled into my silk pajamas, and slept like a log. |
