On the advice of our host , Patrick, we took the coast road through the Burren to Killimer then to Dingle, but first we visited the Gaelic Crafts Centre at Spiddal. Bought a new tin whistle and some new beatres for the bodhran.
Very beautiful scenery although it took much longer than we would have hoped. Bought some smoked salmon at Lisdoonvarna (find that for yourself!) then made it to Killimer to catch the ferry across the river Shannon.
Once again got caught in 5pm traffic at Tralee - a bloody nightmare! Anyway, we made dingle and settled into our B&B around 6.30pm. The B&B was about 15 minutes walk from Dingle town soe we headed off in to find a good pub with MUSIC. Settled in to Paudie's Bar for a meal of deep battered plaice for me and salmon for Rob. Then the musicians came in and played some traditional music. Great time, especially as I got the chance to join them to play and sing. So I got to play/sing a couple of tunes and accompany them in some jigs and reels all of which was to acclaim from the people in the pub. Totally awsome and one of my ambitions finally achieved... :-)
On the way back Rob got a burst blood vessel in her eye, we think it had to do with the temperature change from the pub to outside. So now she has the evil eye so to speak.... Sad really as she has been so good so far. Mind you, the Ireland section is somewhat hectic.
