Stateroom 14231

Sanitization peocess

We just succesfully boarded the MSC Grandiosa and we are now in our stateroom! What was looking like a dream until a few days ago is now reality.

Not being superstitious we left home at 13.00 of Sunday 13th and the trip to Genoa was uneventful: actually Lombardia became ‘yellow’ (low risk) today, so all the movement restrictions and rules are now void and we were allowed to travel without control.

Last obstacle to our cruise was the mandatory COVID test before boarding. To reduce the crowd, the boarding process was staggered. We had to reach the ship at 15.30 to be COVID tested. After the test we had to wait about one hour to have the result: only negative people can board. Even if we had no symptoms, the one hour waiting was very long … does time run slowly at the port ? The ‘waiting’ area was quite surreal… lot of masked people, well spaced, waiting anxiously the ‘judgment’. Every some time a name was called, a person was leaving the area and several times we heard an ‘HURRAH' shouted in the sky … after an hour which was looking like six hours, it was our turn to be called… a few moments of suspence and we joined the ‘HURRAH' people! The test result was ok! We were allowed to board the ship and start our cruise.

After the usual greetings and embarkation pictures we reached the 14th floor.

We are in stateroom 14231, on the top of the ship! It's a balcony room with a wonderful view. More about the room in next installments.

It's already 5PM, just some time to unpack and it will be dinner time
