Longreach by Train for some NBC_ers travel blog

this is how to correctly use Ron's "diet nose feed bag" a.k.a....

Good of this freight train to move over and let us through

It's a long way back to Longreach - 1325kms and 26 hrs...

a different view of Mt Tibrogargan in the Glasshouse Mtns area

Wed 23rd Oct - Bundaberg to Brisbane

I slept soundly through to Bundaberg - about 6:00am when the sun was up and streaming through the windows that had blinds up. I know it’s an illusion but the trip seems shorter coming home to what it did going. The most remarkable thing this morning is the amount of water in creeks dams and rivers and the different colour with everything having some sort of shade of green as opposed to out west where all the colours are shades of brown. Oh how we need rain. The promise of a La Nina weather system is encouraging. Hopefully it will be a wetter summer.

Had breakfast in the Economy dining car and chatted with some of the others for a while over a morning coffee. The pic shows how to correctly use Ron’s Nose feed bag (AKA Arthur’s hat)

We are still a half hour late as at Gympie so not sure they will be able to make up the time. Took a few minutes to go the back of Carriage G (the last) to watch the line unfolding behind us. It was nice getting a different view of Mt Tibrogargan in the Glasshouse Mtns. Nice to see a long slow goods train pull off onto a passing track to let us go through.

Whizzed past Carseldine station to arrive at Roma St at about 12:15pm. Verna has gone direct to the hospital to see her brother (there has been no change in his condition). Ski and Marlene were picked up by rellies too. The rest of us changed platforms and caught a Redcliffe line train to retrace our steps back to Carseldine, with Janella heading on to Redcliffe.

It has certainly been a holiday with a difference and a great experience. Maybe next trip will be back in the caravan. Thanks for your company
