SUN 18th Oct - NBC Live - Longreach Salvos
I’ve caught up on sleep, so I was awake in time to grab a cuppa and log in to the NBC prayer group at 8:30. It’s Verna’s birthday today so we gathered outside her door this morning to sing Happy Birthday. Then breakfast as soon as Jan was up and we’ve still plenty of time till the NBC Life Stream service from Brisbane. It was a momentous service as it is the 1st one back together face-to-face. However it had to be ticketed to meet Covid restrictions so there are only 100 in the main auditorium, 25 in the outdoor area with closed circuit television and 35 (including teachers) in the Kids area for kids time. It went well and was a great message on the parable of the “wedding guests”. After the service we shared morning tea together, sang happy birthday again and wiled away some time before going down to the RSL to celebrate lunch together for her birthday. The heat 36-38deg is certainly slowing us all down in the middle of the day (not to mention the effects of a big meal at the RSL), so mostly we retreat to our rooms for a rest in the air-con.
The local Salvation Army is a Rural Chaplaincy base so the local officers are often not in town but we all went down anyway for the 4:00pm service and the 14 of us constituted the whole congregation having a time of fellowship through song and testimony. It was a meaningful time together and we shared a cuppa together before walking back to the motel.
On the way back we had a laugh at the bras all attached to the fence of a property. There’s no explanation but we assume it may be from a breast cancer awareness campaign. ?? or was it a bring-buy-swap meeting ?? Who knows?
