Ed & Marilyn 'The Happy Wanderers' travel blog

My sweet little gnome was up before me today. In fact she had put on the coffee and had the pork shoulder out of the fridge, so that I could get it on the smoker when I was ready.

We shared our coffee as usual and then started on the "To Do" list.

I made the bed and straightened things indoors while my Honey drove into town to pick up a few things we needed for the BBQ we were hosting today.

I moved the cars to the driveway and then cleaned the smoker/grill and filled the hopper with wood pellets. I had the pork on the grill right at 9:00 AM and monitored the temperature as the smoker did it's thing.

The meat was finished and ready to take off right at 4:00 PM. We allowed the meat to rest while we sat in our lawn chairs watching for the family to arrive.

When they arrived, the kids took off on their bikes while us adults sat together visiting, with a cold drink in our hands.

Steve helped me pull the pork apart and of course we taste tested it. Delicious, moist and tender.

Served with baked beans and coleslaw, we enjoyed a fine meal.

Things were cleaned up pretty quickly and we all sat together in the sunroom, until it was time for the visitors to head home.

Now my sweet little gnome and I are relaxing. It has been a good day for sure!
